According to Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman, Apple could mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone launch by launching a foldable iPhone version and a new Pro model (equivalent to iPhone 19 Pro) with more glass details.

Gurman believes that moving toward a completely new design by 2027 would mean that the next iPhone, which Apple is expected to launch in the fall of 2025, will not look much different from the current iPhone 16 lineup, except for the rear camera. While there are rumors of a major redesign for iOS 19, it’s unlikely that Apple will make a major change to the way users interact with iPhones since the iPhone X was introduced in 2017.
“To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple is preparing a major change, including a foldable version and a bold new Pro model that will use more glass,” Gurman said in the statement.

When the iPhone X launched, Apple removed the home button and went all-glass, marking a turning point in smartphone design. Now, Apple appears to be trying to achieve the same thing with its 20th anniversary model, with reports suggesting the iPhone 17 Pro will feature an even more glass chassis.

While rumors of an all-glass iPhone have been circulating since 2017, the timing of its release has been unclear. Analyst Jeff Pu has said the iPhone Fold and foldable iPad will be released in 2026, while Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed the foldable iPhone will be released in 2024.
If Apple does indeed go ahead with its 20th anniversary iPhone redesign, it could launch in September 2027, eight years after Samsung launched the first Galaxy Fold.
