Ms. Harris is losing ground.

Observers believe that Kamala Harris no longer holds the advantage over Donald Trump that she did in the early stages of the election campaign.

In just over 10 days, the US will officially hold its election to choose the person who will lead the country for the next four years. To date, polls still show a close and intense contest between Republican candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

Democrats are worried.

The "blue wave," with a large number of Democrats supporting US Vice President Kamala Harris since she ran for office, now hopes she can create a surge to attract voters in the final stretch. However, concerns have arisen about Harris's campaign strategy this week, and some Democrats feel Trump is gaining momentum and an advantage, according to The Hill .

US Election: Nearly 25 million voters cast early ballots, Trump and Harris in a final race.

Harris began this week with a busy schedule, campaigning in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in a single day on October 21, followed by interviews with media outlets on October 22-23. What raised doubts among observers was her visit to Texas on October 25, a state considered a Republican stronghold with little chance of Democratic victory. Polls also indicated that the safe lead Harris had previously maintained over Trump was gradually narrowing.

A The Hill /Decision Desk HQ poll on October 24th, compiling over 280 surveys, showed Harris still leading Trump by about 0.9 percentage points, although this gap has narrowed significantly compared to previous months. Meanwhile, the aforementioned winner prediction reversed for the first time this week, now suggesting Trump has a 52% chance of re-election, after more than two months of predicting a higher chance for the Democratic candidate.

Republican pollster Frank Luntz stated on CNN on October 22nd that Harris had had the best 60 days of any modern-day US presidential candidate. However, he argued that her momentum had "frozen" since she shifted her focus to attacking Trump instead of concentrating on policy messages.

Mr. Trump changed his stance.

On Trump's side, this week he faced new troubles. First, The New York Times reported on October 23rd, citing John Kelly, former White House chief of staff under Trump, that the former president had the characteristics of a "fascist," alleging that Trump had once praised the dictator Adolf Hitler.

Later that same day, The Guardian published an interview with former model Stacey Williams, accusing Trump of harassing her at Trump Tower in 1993. Trump's side has denied the allegations. Whether this information will affect the sentiment of American voters remains to be seen.

US Elections: Will Trump achieve success by changing his mind?

Forbes magazine, citing data from TargetSmart on October 23, reported that over 18 million voters had cast early ballots, with nearly 8 million of them being Republican voters. Early voting typically sees a significant disparity between the Democrats. This year, however, Trump has shifted his stance and urged people to vote early.

Data from the University of Florida (USA) indicates that 43% of Democratic voters cast early ballots and 35% were Republican in 25 states. These figures have shifted in Trump's favor compared to 2020, when the former president spread rumors of mail-in ballot fraud. At that time, the University of Florida reported that 53% of Democratic voters had cast early ballots in 17 states, while only 25% of Republicans had.

Early voting also helps campaign teams use resources more efficiently, as they only need to target voters who haven't yet voted. Encouraging voter turnout is also a crucial goal for each candidate to increase their chances of winning. In 2020, approximately 66% of eligible voters cast their ballots.

Ms. Harris will "close the deal" next week.

Democratic candidate Harris will deliver her "final speech" in her showdown with Trump on October 29, a week before the election. AFP reported on October 23, citing a campaign official, that this crucial speech will highlight the contrasting visions of Harris and Trump.
