US media reports: Iran is pursuing two goals in negotiations.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing Iranian officials and Arab mediators, reported that Iran is pursuing two intertwined goals in its negotiating strategy with the United States.

Those goals were to secure financial support for the struggling economy , but without making too many concessions on the nuclear program so that US President Donald Trump could declare victory.

Tehran is seeking to alleviate economic pressure by regaining access to some of the $100 billion in assets frozen by the West, while also restoring access to global oil markets.

Iran's unwavering refusal to back down on its nuclear program is one of the points of contention in the negotiations. According to the Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump appears to have withdrawn his demand that Iran hand over its remaining enriched uranium to the United States. Instead, the US leader expressed a desire for Iran to destroy this nuclear material or transfer it to another country.
