Đảng Cộng SảnĐảng Cộng Sản05/11/2024

(CPV) - Ba Ria - Vung Tau is a coastal locality with very high economic development opportunities, therefore, the province has oriented the development of coastal urban areas in a modern direction, promoting the formation of key economic poles.

Coastal urban chains play a leading role

Ba Ria-Vung Tau has a coastline of 305.4 km and more than 100,000 km2 of continental shelf, so it has many potentials and advantages in the sea. In particular, the advantage of Ba Ria-Vung Tau's deep-water port is the most prominent point in the region, promoting economic activities, creating a distinct regional position for the province.

Ho Tram (Xuyen Moc district) has become a vibrant coastal city, attracting a large number of tourists .

Located adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, the most dynamically developing region in the country and ASEAN region, Ba Ria-Vung Tau is an important component of the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area. In addition, favorable climate, land and natural resources are advantages for developing the marine economy with oil and gas, industry, seafood and advantages of sea and island tourism.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau is also the only locality with a long coastline with clean, gentle sand beaches. The province also has many areas with attractive landscapes and a clean environment. In addition, there are national historical and cultural relics and many unique traditional cultural festivals... Along with that is the Con Dao archipelago, which is both a famous revolutionary historical relic and a forest and marine nature reserve, one of the Ramsar sites recognized and highly appreciated by the world.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau currently has a chain of coastal urban areas playing a key role in creating momentum for socio-economic development, including: Vung Tau City, Long Hai Town and Phuoc Hai Town. Architect Mai Trung Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said: In recent times, Ba Ria - Vung Tau has been on the right track in developing the economic and tourism corridor for coastal urban areas of the province. Almost all coastal urban areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau have had orientation plans, general plans and detailed zoning plans for investment and development management; clearly zoning urban areas and tourist areas to serve urban and tourism development...

Con Dao alone has a full range of planning and management regulations to develop Con Dao relatively tightly.

Coastal cities are "springboards" to the sea

According to the plan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau will develop more coastal urban areas such as: Ho Tram, Binh Chau (Xuyen Moc district), Loc An (Dat Do district) and the whole of Con Dao will develop into an island urban area. Accordingly, Ho Tram urban area is a coastal tourist urban area of the province and Xuyen Moc district; is an economic, service and tourism center and has important national defense significance, aiming to form a type V urban area in the period of 2025 and 2030.

Loc An is a concentrated residential area and coastal economic urban functional areas such as: tourism services, production services, fishing and aquaculture, so it is expected to develop into a type V urban area. Binh Chau is an international-scale tourism service and trade center of Xuyen Moc district and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, an urban area of important national defense significance.

Long Hai and Phuoc Hai (Long Dien district) are also oriented to develop into modern coastal cities, connecting coastal cities in the province and region.

According to leading experts and architects, to promote the marine economy, Ba Ria - Vung Tau needs to prioritize the development of coastal urban chains, making them "fortresses" in defense and "springboards" to advance to the sea, in a strategic thinking of regional connectivity. To achieve that goal, the coastal urban area of Ba Ria - Vung Tau must be planned in a sustainable, effective direction, with its own identity and, importantly, must have "savings" for the future.

In the planning period 2021-2030, vision 2050, Ba Ria - Vung Tau identifies tourism as one of the four important economic pillars. The planning orients the development of the economic driving force of tourism in the Southeast coastal area with a chain of tourist urban areas of Vung Tau, Long Hai, Phuoc Hai, Loc An, Ho Tram, Binh Chau and the national tourist area of Con Dao.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi, former Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), the development of a chain of coastal tourism urban areas following the green, sustainable urban model, with a synchronous, modern infrastructure system, creates a safe, clean, livable living environment, attracting tourists. Developing a synchronous, modern and classy chain of tourism services contributes significantly to making Ba Ria - Vung Tau a high-quality, international-class tourism center, an entertainment and resort center worthy of international standards. That is also a way to contribute to solving the problem of urban overload in the future, adapting to climate change and sustainably developing the marine economy of Ba Ria - Vung Tau until 2030./.
