Creating appeal through technology
In 2022, the "Bac Giang Province Smart Tourism Portal," with the domain name mybacgiang.vn, was officially launched and upgraded over the years by the Bac Giang Tourism Information and Promotion Center (now the Provincial Culture and Tourism Promotion Center). The portal integrates all data on tourism activities, making it convenient for tourists, travel agencies, and managers to find and search for information about tourist areas, attractions, services, entertainment venues, restaurants, hotels, etc., within the province.

Officials and staff of the Provincial Center for Culture and Tourism Promotion check data on the smart tourism portal.
Simultaneously, the website dulichbacgiang.gov.vn, developed by the unit, is also being upgraded to connect with nationwide data, facilitating the exploitation and search of information related to the tourism sector. The center has also established and integrated many applications, digitized tourism commentary content for lookup via QR code, facilitated electronic payments on smartphones, and created e-tourism books… Notably, the VR360-degree (virtual reality tourism) application software, completed in 2024, has proven effective. To experience a virtual reality tour through the VR360-degree application, tourists can access it using smartphones, computers, iPads, etc.
When experiencing this application, viewers can clearly feel the beauty of famous landmarks and scenic spots in many localities through vivid videos and photos. Mr. Than Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Culture and Tourism Promotion, said that with the application of VR360 technology, the Center has now established 16 tourist areas, sites, and historical relics (corresponding to 16 virtual reality tours). This is considered a breakthrough in innovation and creativity in the form of tourism promotion.
Along with deploying applications, districts, towns, and cities are also installing QR codes and digitizing historical sites. In Bac Giang City, when visiting the Xương Giang Victory Site, a special national historical site, tourists can scan the QR code with just a smartphone, and within seconds, a wealth of data such as brochures, books about Xương Giang Temple, and the animated film "The Xương Giang Victory" will appear on the screen, allowing them to look up and learn about the history, culture, conservation, and promotion of the site's value. Notably, at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, the application of 3D technology via QR code scanning displays information about the site in both Vietnamese and English, combined with 360-degree images and videos, creating an attractive experience for visitors.
Mr. Vu Tri Thong, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Bac Giang City, said that in recent times, the city's functional units have coordinated the digitization of 3D Buddha statues at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Kem Pagoda, and Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery. From 2021 to the present, the City People's Committee has directed the expansion of the "Searching and learning about historical relics through QR codes" model to 13 historical relics in the city.
At Bo Da Pagoda (Viet Yen town), the installation of signage guiding visitors to learn about the historical site via QR code scanning on the Zalo application has provided visitors with an enjoyable experience. Upon accessing the site, visitors can view documents and videos introducing Bo Da Pagoda, including the famous woodblock prints, the pagoda garden, and the history and development of Viet Yen town, without having to search or look up information themselves. In addition, some management boards of tourist areas and attractions such as Suoi Mo (Luc Nam), Ban Ven (Yen The), Bau Tien (Luc Ngan)... are also strengthening promotion through their Fanpages on social media.
Invest resources, improve quality.
Implementing the Provincial People's Committee's plan for digital transformation in Bac Giang province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with relevant units, is carrying out many key activities, including the application of information technology, gradually digitizing databases to serve tourism management and promotion; researching and developing software applications for searching tourism information on mobile devices; designing and developing electronic information publications to help tourists easily find and access information. Furthermore, it is requested that network providers install 3G, 4G, and 5G base stations; and provide free Wi-Fi hotspots in the central areas of districts, towns, and cities, as well as in tourist areas and destinations in the province that currently lack coverage.

Youth union members look up information about Kem Pagoda (Bac Giang City) via QR code.
Along with infrastructure investment, many tourism businesses and organizations are also collaborating with famous TikTokers, models, and actors to promote historical sites, scenic spots, and local products of Bac Giang. According to assessments by relevant authorities, the application of digital technology in the tourism sector has initially proven effective, contributing to promoting the image of the land, people, and unique cultural values of Bac Giang. In 2024, the province is expected to welcome approximately 2.6 million tourists, a 26.8% increase compared to 2023. Total revenue from tourism business activities is projected to exceed 2 trillion VND, a 38% increase.

It will develop artificial intelligence applications and virtual tourism assistants to digitize scenic spots and historical sites. It will actively participate in events, seminars, and exhibitions, seeking partners to exchange experiences in digital transformation; and explore unique and attractive promotional ideas.
Mr. Do Tuan Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in 2025, the Department will invite representatives from the management boards of nearly 20 tourist areas and destinations in the province to participate in a conference to discuss solutions in the tourism promotion strategy. Each unit must build a unique and attractive image to promote and communicate about its tourist area or destination, creating a positive impression on tourists. The Department will continue to direct the development of QR codes with virtual video narrations at tourist destinations, craft villages, historical sites, etc., to enhance the experience and provide a novel feeling for tourists through virtual and online tourism. Training courses will be organized to improve knowledge of digital transformation for staff working in the tourism sector.
