The declaration of a natural disaster emergency will serve to deploy measures to overcome sinkholes; organize emergency evacuation and relocation of residents, and provide relocation support according to regulations.
At the same time, promptly handle the initial steps to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and infrastructure works.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province requested Na Ri district and specialized agencies to use materials such as soil, rock, and concrete to fill sinkholes; monitor subsidence phenomena, promptly detect signs, and delimit dangerous areas; proactively evacuate and relocate people from dangerous areas if any; arrange accommodation and ensure logistics for people at evacuation sites.
The specialized sector works with the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources to develop a project to assess the cause of subsidence and implement remediation after determining the cause.
The province also requested Na Ri district and specialized agencies to have a proactive plan to evacuate people and property, and have initial emergency solutions to ensure safety for affected households.
In case it exceeds the local capacity, report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.
Previously, Nhan Dan Newspaper reported that since March 24, 7 sinkholes have appeared in Kim Lu commune. The sinkholes are mainly located in Hiep Luc village with an average size of 2-3m and a depth of 5-7m.
Sinkholes threaten people’s safety and affect production. The area with sinkholes currently has 21 households with 92 people and an agricultural land area of about 12 hectares.
To ensure people's safety, Na Ri district directed Kim Lu commune to put up warning ropes and evacuate 2 households to other safe places.
Currently, Bac Kan province has not determined the cause of these sinkholes.
