Bac Lieu after arrangement and merger has 25 communes and wards left.

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of April 15, the Provincial Party Standing Committee held a meeting of the Provincial Party Executive Committee to approve the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units in the province and merge Bac Lieu Newspaper and Bac Lieu Radio and Television Station.

Regarding the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units in the province, after research and organizing meetings with localities and people, the plan was developed to reduce the previous 64 communes and wards to 25 commune-level administrative units, including 5 wards.

Specifically, Bac Lieu City will have 3 wards from 10 commune-level administrative units; Gia Rai Town will have 2 wards and 1 commune from 10 commune-level administrative units; Hong Dan District will have 4 communes from 9 commune-level administrative units; Dong Hai District will have 5 communes from 11 commune-level administrative units; Hoa Binh District will have 3 communes from 8 commune-level administrative units; Phuoc Long District will have 4 communes from 8 commune-level administrative units and finally Vinh Loi District will have 3 communes from 8 commune-level administrative units.

The conference also approved the project to merge Bac Lieu Newspaper and Bac Lieu Radio and Television Station, the expected name after the merger is Bac Lieu Newspaper and Radio - Television Station, operating under the model of a public service unit directly under the Provincial Party Committee. The working headquarters will be located at the current Provincial Radio - Television Station. After the merger, the Newspaper and the Provincial Radio - Television Station are expected to maintain the current number of staff and labor contracts; establish 7 affiliated organizations, 4 organizations less than the previous 2 units.

Concluding the conference, Bac Lieu Provincial Party Secretary Lu Van Hung emphasized the request that after this meeting, localities continue to collect public opinions to finalize the projects, which are expected to be approved by the Provincial People's Council on April 28 to be submitted to the Central Government in early May in the spirit of urgent implementation, without delay.
