Construction is progressing rapidly, with many items already completed.
These days, taking advantage of favorable weather, construction is proceeding rapidly at many sites in the communes of Son Dong, Tuan Dao, and Yen Dinh. On roads, culverts, and embankments damaged by natural disasters, dozens of workers and machinery are continuously digging foundations, transporting soil and rocks, reinforcing roadbeds, and completing major construction items.
At the Trâu Bơi underground construction site on the Tuấn Đạo - Bồng Am (old) inter-communal road, many large rocks, estimated to weigh tens of tons, are being broken into smaller pieces and transported out of the area by construction machinery to clear the ground for construction. This is a point severely affected by landslides, directly impacting inter-communal traffic, so it is being prioritized for remediation.

Dai Cuong Construction and Trading Company Limited is accelerating the construction progress of the underground facility in Trau Boi, Tuan Dao commune. |
Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, Director of Dai Cuong Construction and Trading Co., Ltd. - the contractor - said that the company has deployed more than 50 workers, 5 large excavators, and many trucks to transport soil and rocks to meet the deadline. “The underground repair project at Trau Boi started in February. We are striving to complete it within 3 months of construction, ensuring the set schedule,” Mr. Dai informed.
According to statistics, the storms and floods at the end of 2025 caused significant damage to many transportation and irrigation infrastructure projects in mountainous communes such as Son Dong, Tuan Dao, Tay Yen Tu, and Yen Dinh. Among these, Tuan Dao and Son Dong were the two most severely affected areas, with hundreds of incidents and many locations requiring urgent repairs.
In Tuan Dao commune, heavy rains and floods caused landslides on the embankment of the Tuan Dao - Deo Gia inter-communal road (Dong Tam village), damaged the Dong Bao Tuan village road, and buried rocks and soil, affecting agricultural and forestry production in the villages of Ngheo, Am Ha, Tuan An, Nam Bong, etc. In particular, the Trau Boi ford on the Tuan Dao - Bong Am inter-communal road suffered a landslide on the embankment, approximately 150 meters long and 8 meters deep, encroaching nearly 3 meters into the road surface. A total of about 6,000 cubic meters of soil and rocks were washed away.
In Son Dong commune, heavy rains and floods damaged many roads that were undergoing renovation and upgrading. A typical example is a landslide that almost completely destroyed the road surface and concrete foundation along approximately 800 meters; and a 60-meter-long embankment landslide at the "Renovation and Upgrading of the An Ba - Tuan Dao Inter-communal Road" project (currently being widened from 3.5 meters to 6 meters). Thanks to the decisive direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the proactive efforts of the local authorities, 12 out of more than 20 projects under the emergency construction order have been completed.
Typical examples include: the underground section in Hiep Reo village, the reservoir in Lua village, the risk of the fence of the memorial in village No. 1 (Son Dong commune) collapsing; landslides on the embankment and roadbed in Dong Bao Tuan and Tuan An villages (Tuan Dao commune); landslides on the concrete road surface on the routes in Ga village, Thong Nhat village, Neo village and Dong Tam dam in Mau village (Tay Yen Tu commune)...
The remaining projects are being expedited. It is expected that the latest completed items, including the embankment along the Cam Dan and Luc Nam rivers, the section passing through Yen Dinh commune (under the management of the Provincial Transport and Agriculture Project Management Board), will be completed by the end of this year.
Proactively remove obstacles.
To promptly address the consequences of the natural disaster, immediately after the floods, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the severely affected communes throughout the province, including Tuan Dao, Son Dong, Yen Dinh, Tay Yen Tu, and the Son Dong Investment and Construction Project Management Board, to compile damage reports and submit them to the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments to propose emergency response plans.
Based on that, the province has approved and allocated funds for more than 20 projects, while also allocating funds from the Disaster Prevention and Control Fund and other contingency sources to accelerate progress. Notably, the province has agreed to separate the project to renovate, repair, and upgrade the Trau Boi culvert (previously part of the "Renovation and upgrading of the road to the center of Long Son commune" project) and assigned the People's Committee of Tuan Dao commune as the investor to proactively implement the project and shorten procedures.
| According to the list of projects implemented under the emergency construction order in the communes of Son Dong, Tuan Dao, Yen Dinh, and Tay Yen Tu, 12 projects have been completed out of a total of more than 20 approved projects. Several remaining projects are under construction and are expected to be completed in 2026, including major items such as the Cam Dan River embankment and the Luc Nam River embankment section passing through Yen Dinh commune. |
However, despite achieving many positive results, some landslides remain unresolved, such as: the underground landslide in Lua village and several locations along the An Chau riverbank section passing through village No. 1 (Son Dong commune); and landslides on the embankment and roadbed belonging to the An Ba - Tuan Dao inter-communal road improvement and upgrading project.
The main reasons are that the Son Dong Commune People's Committee has not yet developed an optimal design plan for the culvert in Lua village; the Son Dong Investment and Construction Project Management Board and the contractor for the An Ba - Tuan Dao inter-communal road renovation and upgrading project have been slow in determining the additional work volume and preparing cost estimates for submission to competent authorities for approval. Mr. Ngoc Duc Van, Vice Chairman of the Son Dong Commune People's Committee, said that the province has not yet allocated funds to implement the embankment project along the An Chau river section passing through village number 1. The delay in the construction of these urgent projects not only causes difficulties for transportation but also poses a potential safety risk to residents during the upcoming rainy season.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Bui Quang Phat, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that after the storms and floods, the Department compiled a list of damaged infrastructure requiring urgent repair and coordinated with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee on allocating appropriate funds. The province also promptly issued a decision declaring a state of emergency for incidents in Yen Dinh, Tay Yen Tu, Son Dong, Tuan Dao communes and some other localities, as a basis for implementing remedial measures.
Mr. Phat suggested that the Son Dong Investment and Construction Project Management Board should review, compile, and specifically calculate the remediation of landslide points within the An Ba - Tuan Dao inter-communal road renovation and upgrade project to determine if the approved budget is exceeded. If it is still within the contingency fund, construction should continue; if it exceeds the budget, it should be submitted to the competent authority for consideration and additional funding.
The urgent completion of landslide remediation projects in mountainous areas is not only aimed at ensuring smooth transportation, serving production and people's lives, but is also a crucial task to minimize risks during the upcoming rainy and stormy season.
