Famous beach deformed after storm.

The heavy rains and storms at the end of November caused severe erosion, completely disfiguring the landscape at Ham Rong beach, Vinh Loc commune, Hue City. Once a famous destination with golden sand, it is now a scene of desolation and ruin.

The sea waves have severely eroded the shoreline, washing away the sand. Many trees that served as wave barriers and landscape features have been uprooted and lie scattered. This situation not only affects tourism but also directly threatens the lives of local residents.

The Ham Rong coastline in Hue is facing unprecedented severe erosion following recent storms and heavy rains.

Severe economic and infrastructure damage.

According to reports, the coastal service establishments have suffered severe damage. Many concrete structures and supporting pillars of restaurants have been eroded by waves, leaving their foundations exposed and hanging precariously over deep ravines created by landslides. In some locations, vertical overhangs have appeared, posing a potential danger.

According to statistics from the Vinh Loc Commune People's Committee, five restaurants in the entire beach area suffered severe damage, with many structures beyond repair due to the foundations being washed away. Hoang Trong Quang, a restaurant owner there, said that erosion has been occurring for many years, but the extent of the destruction this time far exceeded expectations. "My restaurant used to have two rows of coconut trees more than 30 meters from the water's edge. Now the waves have washed them all away, even the foundations, causing the restaurant to collapse," Quang shared.

People are waiting for an emergency solution.

Given the urgent situation, local businesses and residents hope that the authorities will soon implement temporary solutions such as constructing soft embankments and sheet piles to reduce erosion and protect the coastline while awaiting more permanent projects.

Representatives from the Vinh Loc Commune People's Committee stated that they have requested the Hue City People's Committee to allocate funds promptly to urgently address the severely eroded areas. The immediate goal is to restore livelihoods for residents in the beach service area and ensure the safety of coastal residential areas.

In the long term, investing in a robust system of seawalls to protect the coastline, combined with upgrading coastal roads to facilitate rescue operations, is considered a fundamental solution for stabilizing people's lives and developing sustainable tourism.
