1. Uses of basil
Basil, also known as mint, basil leaf, or mint leaf, has the scientific name Ocimum basilicum L. var. basilicum., and belongs to the Lamiaceae (Labiatae) family.
Basil stems and leaves have a pungent taste and warm nature; they enter the Lung, Spleen, Large Intestine, and Stomach meridians; they have the effects of dispelling wind, promoting qi circulation, resolving dampness, promoting digestion, activating blood circulation, and detoxifying; they are mainly used to treat colds, headaches, bloating, epigastric pain, diarrhea, irregular menstruation, injuries from falls, allergic rashes, etc.
Currently, it is commonly used in clinical practice to treat colds, flu, runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, bad breath, bloating, indigestion, as a sedative, and to reduce stress.
Directions for use: Brew as a decoction or crush and filter to extract the juice for drinking; for external use, crush and apply as a poultice, or burn to ashes, grind into a fine powder and apply as a poultice, or boil in water for washing.

Basil is used to treat colds, headaches, coughs, sore throats, bad breath, bloating, indigestion, and more.
2. Some remedies using basil for preventing and treating diseases.
2.1 Treatment for colds, headaches, coughs, and sore throats: Boil 30g of basil and 30g of Iris tectorum in 400ml of water until only 200ml remains. Divide into two portions and drink throughout the day.
2.2 Treatment of acute or chronic respiratory tract inflammation: Equal amounts of basil, lemon basil, and Polygonum multiflorum are crushed with a little salt, the juice is extracted, the pulp is discarded, and the mixture is divided into several portions to be gargle throughout the day.
2.3 Treating allergies, rashes, and hives: Wash basil (stems, leaves, flowers, and seeds are even better), crush them, add hot water, squeeze out the juice and drink it. At the same time, apply the remaining pulp to the affected areas of skin with allergies and rashes.
2.4 Treating bad breath: Boil 100g of whole basil plant in 200ml of water and use the decoction as a mouthwash.
2.5 Reduce stress, stabilize blood pressure, and aid in quitting smoking: Chew and swallow the juice of 30g of basil leaves, divided into 3 doses per day.
2.6 For postpartum women with insufficient breast milk: Boil 50g of basil leaves and stems in water and drink the decoction throughout the day.
2.7 Calming and improving sleep: Steep 100g of fresh basil in boiling water in a sealed container and drink as a tea substitute.
2.8 Preventing diabetes and fighting cancer: Crush 100g of basil, add 200ml of filtered water to extract the juice, discard the pulp, and drink in two doses per day.
2.9 Treatment for bloating, indigestion , and gastritis : Brew 50g of basil and drink daily;
Precautions: People with weak constitution and blood dryness should use it with caution; excessive consumption or prolonged use may lead to bone and joint pain.
