Having accompanied the country and its people for nearly a century, from traditional print newspapers, the entire country now has a fairly robust press system with more than 41,000 people working in over 800 media outlets.
Regardless of the type of journalism, day after day, hour after hour, journalists are striving, upholding their political integrity and social responsibility, playing a pioneering role, bravely venturing into the "front lines" to report on current events, politics, economic and social issues, national defense, and security...; continuing to affirm their position and responsibility to better fulfill the mission of "the secretary of the era," contributing to building trust and social consensus.
Standing alongside the nation's historical turning points in every stage and circumstance, the press has always demonstrated revolutionary spirit and fighting spirit, as President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers; the pen and paper are their sharp weapons."
During the years of struggle for national liberation, journalists went to the battlefield as soldiers, wielding both pen and gun, creating vibrant journalistic works that united millions of people towards a common goal.
Entering the period of reform and integration, the press continues to discover, encourage, motivate, and promote exemplary individuals and new factors, creating vibrant revolutionary action movements in all fields and achieving great accomplishments.
Through their talent, responsibility, dedication, and practical experience, coupled with their keen awareness of current events, revolutionary journalists have successfully played the role of "pioneering," "leading," and guiding society, spreading positive values and energy; vigorously fighting against stagnation and conservatism, creating breakthroughs in thinking and producing truly moving works...
Many journalists have bravely overcome dangers, difficulties, and hardships to immerse themselves in reality, promptly reporting on events, hotspots, natural disasters, storms, and floods… In particular, the press has always been a sharp weapon in the fight against corruption, negative practices, and waste, which our Party is implementing decisively, comprehensively, and effectively.
Currently, amidst constant movement and change, the revolutionary Vietnamese press has entered a new era of information technology, digital transformation, and creative journalism...
Dissatisfied with the status quo, the press has been and continues to innovate to adapt, maintain its central role, and guide mainstream, official information flows.
Looking at the reality of the past, the press has successfully applied modern science and technology to its operations, combining tradition and modernity, and making full use of creative forms to produce multimedia journalistic products.
And the converged newsroom – an inevitable trend in modern journalism – has created versatile journalists who are proficient in using many new tools; even a smartphone can become a "mini-newsroom" to create creative, high-quality journalistic works and products.
Changes are necessary to meet the urgent demands for skills and technology, as well as the ever-increasing needs of the public, but only one thing will never change: the qualities and integrity of revolutionary journalists.
Although technological advancements are creating favorable conditions for journalism, there are still unchanging values: the heart, mind, and will of the journalist. These qualities and fortitude are continuously nurtured and refined to fully fulfill the noble mission of "upholding justice and eradicating evil," remaining the mainstream and legitimate force amidst the pervasive flow of information, a mix of truth and falsehood.
The integrity of a journalist is also reflected in their heart and vision, fostering the spirit of "sharp eyes, pure heart, incisive pen," upholding the dignity, character, honor, and self-respect of a journalist in the 4.0 era, always demonstrating both heart and vision in every journalistic work.
Although some media outlets, at certain times, still resort to sensationalism and clickbait to attract readers, this is only a "phenomenon," not "the norm."
To remain true fighters on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, today's journalists are always conscious of learning and improving themselves to maintain their passion for the profession. "Passion," "dedication," and "responsibility" continue to be the guiding lights, helping journalists to firmly believe in the path they have chosen and to contribute.
Only the courage, responsibility, and diligent, serious work of the journalistic team can contribute to creating a vibrant press that is increasingly moving towards "professionalism, humanity, and modernity."
