“From now on, the name National Economics University will replace National Economics University. The only difference is the removal of the first word in the name, but it opens the way for the word Dai to come first and help the school move towards “greatness” in all aspects,” said the Minister, while analyzing the differences between University and other universities.
According to the Minister, the key issue is not whether it is big or small. The university is important because it is a large entity with an internal structure that requires high university management capacity and level, aiming for development, demonstrating the desire for development and growth. The university allows for the promotion of autonomy and dynamism. Autonomy can be implemented down to the lowest level unit and to professional groups and scientists. If the organizational model design does not aim to liberate the creative capacity from within the educational institution, the model transformation will not bring much value. The new internal organizational and administrative model that the school chooses creates greater capacity, allows for liberation from within, liberation in depth, and brings university autonomy to higher efficiency.
“The university model is an internal governance model that aims at multidisciplinary development, so in the development orientation for the coming time, the National Economics University needs to aim for a reasonable multidisciplinary structure, multidisciplinary but still promoting advantages, strengths and traditional strengths. It is necessary to stand firmly on traditional strengths, strengths and characteristics, expand in the direction of related sectors and support each other into a system, multidisciplinary in the most reasonable way on the basis of maintaining identity and prestige. Multidisciplinary does not mean that everything others do, we also do. We should not deviate from our main goals and missions. The identity and brand of the school need to continue and promote in the new organizational and governance model,” the Minister suggested.

According to the Minister, to have faith and predict the prospects and future development of an educational institution, one can look at the past, the depth of achievements, scale, quality, and reputation of the present, but most importantly, the decision of both the speed of development and the quality of development in the future depends largely on the development vision and development aspirations of the contemporary people. “The National Economics University desires, chooses, and transforms to a new development model - the university model - representing a transformation, a change in internal quality and external appearance, determined to innovate and develop, that is the new aspiration and new vision. This makes us confident and optimistic about the future development path of the National Economics University”.
Take on the responsibility of training a new generation of entrepreneurs with aspirations to reach out to the world
Sharing about the current context of the country, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: The country is urgently, actively and determinedly developing cutting-edge technology and engineering sectors, new technologies, hoping to catch up with advanced countries. However, technology develops, production develops but the fields of administration, business, and economic management policies from macro to micro are not advanced, not keeping up with the world, then the effectiveness of efforts in technology and engineering will not bring about development efficiency for the country, and economic risks will even increase. It is like a clumsy person using a tool that is too sharp.

“Our mission in the new era, in the new era, is certainly different from what we have done in the past. For other universities, scientific products are inventions, scientific and technological products transferred, prestigious scientific publications and human-level influence. For the National Economics University, the most important products are policy advice, policy solutions, models, and national-level management methods for economic components, from the central to local levels and enterprises,” the Minister also said that, without mentioning new inventions, learning from other countries thoroughly and applying them creatively for the development of Vietnam is the land for the National Economics University to demonstrate, affirm and develop.
Referring to the process of developing the socialist-oriented market economy of our country in the past time and the need to build a new class of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, the Minister said that the development of the socialist-oriented market economy of our country in the recent past has created great strides in socio-economic development. In fact, an increasingly large number of entrepreneurs have been gradually formed. The more the economy develops, the more the business community develops. In the past, our country was an agricultural country with a tradition of prioritizing agriculture over commerce, where the merchant class was not highly valued, but now in the new context and the merchant class is increasingly developing, we need to change society's perception of the business class.

“We develop socialist culture and people, but the qualities of the new socialist people applied to businessmen are difficult. It is necessary to promote cultural traditions, propose the spirit and cultural values of new Vietnamese businessmen. How to still have benefits and profits, but still love the country, have national responsibility, social responsibility; keep business reputation, do not harm others; have a healthy and sustainable perspective on values, have a great aspiration to reach out to the world; know how to bring the spirit of “seeking profit for righteousness”, seeing that profit cannot be achieved by any means, thinking of others, of the environment, of sustainability, not opportunistic, not short-sighted, not easily satisfied, not fragmented;…
These are the things that need to be trained for the new team of entrepreneurs right from the university environment. And if it is not here, then where? If not the teachers sitting here, then who? Economics professors need to take on this responsibility. Doing that is adding more ideology to the development of truly high-quality human resources for the future in the economic field. It is also developing the University of Economics to the right national level, and the nation is also the nation in its connotation", the Minister shared.

According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, one of the immediate tasks for the school is to review and complete the Development Strategy based on the major guidelines, orientations and policies of the Party, State, Government and the Education sector; to fully exploit the advantages to grow rapidly in a new governance model.

Regarding organizational work, the National Economics University needs to establish a decentralization mechanism in the direction of promoting more and more substantial autonomy for the lower units, and how to promote the spirit of autonomy to each cadre, at the lowest level.
“For the Board of Directors, the change of name from Principal to Director should not only be a change in name, but also a change in vision, capacity, and management level to adapt to the new management model, meeting the expectations of all staff, lecturers, students, and trainees in the model transformation. And by doing so, the new model transformation will bring added value,” the Minister said.
On the side of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Minister said that there will be appropriate support and supervision mechanisms to create the best conditions for the National Economics University to develop.
