From June 1st, E10 bioethanol fuel (E10 gasoline) will be officially applied nationwide according to the roadmap of the Ministry of Industry and Trade . In the province, along with the proactive efforts of petroleum businesses, the relevant authorities are stepping up propaganda and market monitoring, gradually improving the conditions for conversion, stabilizing the market, and creating consensus among businesses and consumers.

The roadmap for transitioning to E10 gasoline is being implemented nationwide to ensure energy security and promote green growth.

Simultaneous deployment, stable supply.

In accordance with Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which stipulates the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam, from June 1st, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical standards) must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide.

According to Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex ), its network of gas stations began selling E10 gasoline in late April, reaching approximately 80% coverage by mid-May. Consumption during the pilot period of E10 increased by about 40% compared to the initial period. Notably, recent sales volume of E10 gasoline has reached approximately 3-4 thousand cubic meters per day.

According to Mr. Pham Phuoc Trai, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the province currently has nearly 1,000 retail gasoline stations. To date, most gasoline stations in the province have completed upgrading their technical systems to meet the requirements for selling E10 gasoline. For smaller retail outlets, the Department of Industry and Trade has proactively coordinated with specialized units to provide technical advice, helping businesses to quickly renovate and clean their storage tanks to suit the characteristics of E10 gasoline.

To date, 100% of Petrolimex and PVOIL stores in the province have started selling E10 gasoline; it is expected that the sale of RON95-III mineral gasoline will cease by May 28th.

According to assessments, businesses in the province have proactively accelerated progress and are ready to stop selling RON95-III gasoline and start selling E10 gasoline from June 1st as regulated.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, E10 gasoline is compatible with most existing vehicles, requiring no engine modifications; it also improves combustion efficiency and contributes to reducing emissions of certain environmentally polluting gases.

In addition, car and motorcycle manufacturers have provided recommendations and support to help users access information about this type of fuel. For older or infrequently used vehicles, many experts recommend that users check and maintain the fuel system before regularly using E10 gasoline. Do not add additives without the manufacturer's recommendation. Choose reputable gas stations that clearly display the types of fuel to ensure fuel quality during the transition period.

Providing complete and timely information helps to overcome initial hesitation, form new consumer habits, and gradually promote the use of environmentally friendly fuels in the community.

Strengthen propaganda, inspection, and supervision.

To make the transition to E10 gasoline a reality, information and communication efforts play a crucial role in helping people understand the characteristics, benefits, and compatibility of E10 gasoline with their current vehicles.

At Petrolimex gas station No. 23 (Phuoc Hau ward), a sales employee shared that in the early stages of selling E10 gasoline, some customers were very concerned about fuel quality, consumption rates, and suitability for their vehicles. After receiving more information about the characteristics of this type of gasoline, many people felt reassured and chose it. To date, business has been stable.

Mr. Pham Phuoc Trai stated that immediately after Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT was issued, the Department of Industry and Trade sent a document to departments, agencies, commune and ward People's Committees, and petroleum businesses in the province to disseminate the new regulations; and simultaneously posted information on the official website and fanpage… The Department coordinated in providing propaganda materials to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; and directed market management forces to widely disseminate information about the safety and benefits of E10 gasoline to raise awareness and create consensus among businesses and consumers.

Intensified public awareness campaigns are considered essential because there have been many concerns recently regarding the compatibility of E10 gasoline with motorcycles and cars currently in circulation; worries about its impact on engines or vehicle maintenance costs.

It is known that from June 1st, the provincial market management force will coordinate with relevant authorities to strengthen supervision and inspection of gasoline and diesel fuel business activities at retail outlets; resolutely handling violations such as: selling gasoline of the wrong type according to the schedule; hoarding goods, creating shortages in supply, arbitrarily stopping sales without justifiable reasons or unclear price and type listing; arbitrarily increasing prices unreasonably and other violations of the law.

Market management teams in charge of the area will be held responsible if retail gasoline stations fail to comply with the conversion roadmap; or if serious violations or hotspots causing market instability occur without timely detection and handling.

Petroleum businesses are urged to promptly complete the necessary technical infrastructure, storage tanks, pumps, and other conditions to switch to selling E10 gasoline according to the prescribed schedule by May 31st.

From June 1st, strictly implement the transition to selling E10 gasoline, ensuring there are absolutely no delays or disruptions in the supply.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association, most car models currently on the market are designed to use E10 gasoline. However, for some car models manufactured before E10 gasoline became widely available, especially older models before 2006, compatibility may vary depending on the design and technical standards of each model. Therefore, users should consult the manufacturer's recommendations or authorized dealers for appropriate information.

For motorcycles, including Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, SYM, and Suzuki, most existing models are compatible with E10 gasoline and do not require any technical modifications. However, some Suzuki models are still undergoing review and confirmation regarding compatibility, such as: Viva 110, Smash, Smash Revo, Shogun, Amity, AN125, GN125, Hayate, EN150, Gz150, UA125, and GD110.
