Ensure that forest planting proceeds according to the seasonal schedule.

Right from the beginning of spring, taking advantage of favorable weather, localities throughout the province simultaneously launched reforestation campaigns. With close guidance from the Party committee and government, and the proactive efforts of the people, Thai Nguyen aims to complete the 2026 reforestation plan in the first few months of the year, creating a foundation for sustainable forestry development.

Local people proactively prepare seedlings, materials, and land, ready to start planting trees right from the beginning of the year.
Forestry officials instruct local people on techniques for spring reforestation.

Since the end of 2025, after logging, forest-planting households in La Bang commune have been urgently clearing undergrowth, digging holes, and ordering seedlings to ensure planting is done on time. After the Lunar New Year, the people simultaneously started planting trees, and so far, they have completed about 30% of the planned area.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, from Phuc Lam hamlet, said: "My family has replanted more than 1 hectare after logging. The whole hamlet plans to replant 6 hectares, and it's basically complete now. Favorable weather and the forestry road system invested in over the past years have made transporting materials, logging, and caring for the forest convenient."

Despite a slight increase in fertilizer prices, production plans were not significantly affected. Local forest rangers regularly provided technical guidance and monitored the quality of seedlings and input materials.

In 2026, localities under Forest Ranger District No. 12, the Nui Coc Lake area and the border with Tam Dao National Park, will plant 485 hectares of concentrated forest and more than 170,000 scattered trees. Forest rangers will coordinate with 10 communes to strictly manage the quality of seedlings at nurseries, provide guidance on planting and caring techniques for each type of tree, and ensure timely planting.

According to the leader of Forestry District No. 12, afforestation contributes to increasing forest cover, creating jobs, and boosting income for the people. Therefore, technical guidance and seed management are strictly implemented from the beginning of the cycle to improve the quality of planted forests and minimize risks from pests, diseases, and adverse weather conditions.

Accelerating the pace of spring reforestation has yielded positive results. To date, the total area of concentrated reforestation in the province has reached nearly 810/7,500 hectares, equivalent to approximately 10.8% of the annual plan. Scattered tree planting has reached nearly 349,000/1.5 million trees, exceeding 23% of the plan. This result demonstrates proactive implementation of tasks from the beginning of the year and lays the groundwork for achieving targets in the following months.

In 2026, Thai Nguyen province aims to maintain forest cover at 60% or higher. Forestry plays a crucial role in the agricultural sector's structure, with an expected harvest volume of over 750,000 m³, an increase compared to previous years. The relevant departments have advised on the synchronized implementation and integration of various funding sources, creating favorable conditions for people to participate in forest development.

Along with ensuring progress, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with localities, will select suitable tree species, increase the proportion of tissue-cultured and cutting-propagated varieties; and develop large timber forests, multi-purpose trees, and medicinal plants under the forest canopy. The goal is to improve the productivity and value of planted forests, gradually manage forests sustainably according to FSC standards, and participate in the carbon credit market.

With thorough preparation, from clearing vegetation and preparing seedlings to organizing planting immediately after the Lunar New Year, the province's 2026 reforestation plan is progressing on schedule and meeting technical requirements.
