In line with the "flow" of digital transformation of journalism, Dong Nai Newspaper has been and continues to innovate both in content and form, meeting the increasing demands of readers.
* Building a converged, multimedia newsroom
Journalist Dao Van Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Dong Nai Newspaper, said that the newspaper currently has two printed newspaper products: Dong Nai Daily Newspaper (16 pages, published from Monday to Saturday) and Dong Nai Weekend (20 pages, published every Friday). In addition, there is also Dong Nai Electronic Newspaper (www.baodongnai.com.vn).
In particular, printed newspapers have continuously undergone comprehensive improvements in both content and form, aiming to provide more accurate, deeper, and multi-dimensional information with clear and transparent viewpoints and perspectives. Avoid choosing cliched, outdated topics that lack the breath of life and the voice of the people. Prioritize topics that are close to people's lives, expressing the viewpoints, resolutions, and policies of the Party and State in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-grasp manner. The form of news and articles is concise, succinct, and in a modern style.
Dong Nai Newspaper currently has 67 staff members, reporters, editors, technicians, and employees. Regarding organizational structure, the newspaper has 6 specialized and administrative departments. |
With Dong Nai Electronic Newspaper, speeding up news processing, “hot” news is prioritized to be posted on the Newspaper’s platforms (website, social networks) and continuously updated. Quality news and articles will be selected and posted according to “golden” time slots with high traffic. News is edited to suit readers’ online newspaper viewing habits; using “expensive” keywords to attract readers. In-depth, specialized information, expressing opinions, opinions, and comments will be reserved for print newspapers, and television reports on online newspapers.
The Editorial Board encourages reporters, editors, and technicians to research and produce news and content for both print and electronic newspapers. The good news is that over the past year, news and other content on the newspaper have been faster, more timely, and more diverse than before. The number of readers accessing the Dong Nai Newspaper website has increased, bringing Dong Nai Newspaper to the top of the Party newspapers nationwide in terms of reader visits.
Many news and articles on digital platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, YouTube have attracted millions of readers. Recently, a series of five printed articles titled The suffering of... "super wards" by a group of authors Phuong Hang, Cong Nghia, Tran Danh, Pham Tung, and Hanh Dung won the consolation prize of the 2022 National Journalism Award and the first prize of the 2023 Dong Nai Province Golden Pen Journalism Award. This series of articles was produced after a working session between Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh and the Trang Dai Ward Party Committee (Bien Hoa City).
Based on the instructions of the Provincial Party Secretary during the working session, the Editorial Board assigned the task to the Head of the Political , Cultural and Social Committee Nguyen Phuong to develop an outline and implement the article with the participation of 3 specialized committees: Politics, Cultural and Social Committee, Economics and Law, and Readers' Life. The series of articles has a general view and assessment of the shortcomings and limitations of Trang Dai Super Ward and at the same time proposes a number of specific solutions to overcome difficulties for the locality.
Editor-in-Chief Dao Van Tuan shared that to portray a major issue in social life, the coordination of the whole team is needed. That is the orientation of the Editorial Board, the direction of the leaders of specialized departments and divisions, and the dedication of reporters and groups of reporters. In today's fierce information competition, solidarity, organization, effort, creativity, and the ability to work in groups are increasingly decisive factors for the quality of journalistic works.
* Various types of journalism
Along with print newspapers, Dong Nai e-newspaper has been making a clear change in the way information and content of each press work are presented. Thereby, raising the level of press works, attracting more and more readers, directly impacting public opinion, creating changes in a more positive direction.
Journalist Phan Thi Kim Ngan, Head of the Electronic Newspaper Department, said that, facing great pressure of information competition, the Electronic Newspaper has proactively and promptly produced and distributed information content on digital platforms in an in-depth manner, suitable for each platform.

Since January 2023, Dong Nai Online Newspaper has launched “new generation” journalism products such as: podcast news, TV news, infographics, longform… in addition to traditional genres such as: news, reports and TV news. So far, Dong Nai Newspaper has had almost all types of journalism including: print newspaper, electronic newspaper, television, radio on digital infrastructure.
Some reporters, technicians, and editors of Dong Nai Electronic Newspaper have initially “multitasked”. They not only know how to write or take photos, but also know how to film, edit clips, create podcasts, read news, do graphics, etc. Editors of electronic newspapers can process information for many different types of journalism: television, audio, website or social networking platforms such as Zalo, YouTube, Facebook.
According to Editor-in-Chief Dao Van Tuan, the explosion of digital media and social networks poses huge challenges and demands for change for the press in general and Dong Nai Newspaper in particular. Therefore, the editorial board, reporters, and technicians of Dong Nai Newspaper must make more efforts to provide information quickly and accurately, but must ensure that it does not deviate from the newspaper's principles. At the same time, it must orient and guide public opinion.
“Our desire is to produce good content and reach a large number of readers in the direction of “wherever readers are on the platform, the Party newspaper is present on that platform”. The Editorial Board has made specific requests for our colleagues to strive to innovate; organize training, education, even hand-holding, exploit strengths and limit weaknesses to gradually shift thinking, must be new, flexible, modern in the direction of “multi-task, multi-platform” - journalist Dao Van Tuan emphasized.
