Japanese media reported today that tropical storm Jangmi has swept across southwestern Japan, injuring at least nine people, causing widespread power outages, and canceling hundreds of flights.

Japanese authorities warned that public transportation in Tokyo and surrounding cities could be disrupted on June 3 as the typhoon approached.
