Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper: 30 years of steady progress

This morning, August 24, in Hanoi, the Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the publication of its first issue. The newspaper was honored to receive a congratulatory flower basket from the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs , Dao Ngoc Dung. Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha; former leaders of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, leaders of the Press Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, and leaders of a number of press agencies; leaders of the Departments and Divisions of the Ministry, and staff and reporters of the newspaper through the periods - those who have contributed to the development of the newspaper over the past 30 years.

Speaking at the ceremony, reviewing the important milestones in the 30-year history of the newspaper's establishment, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Thu Hang said that on this day 30 years ago, August 25, 1993, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press witnessed an important event, the Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper was launched to readers nationwide. The newspaper of the Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs sector, right from its inception, joined in the cause of national renewal and the renewal of the Vietnamese press.

The Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper was born at a time when the industry had many things to do and innovate, such as: poverty reduction, war invalids and martyrs, people with meritorious services, social insurance, social protection, labor and employment, vocational training, prevention of social evils... During this period, the communication of the State's legal policies and the tasks of the industry... was extremely urgent.

Having gone through many difficulties in the early days of its establishment, the newspaper quickly established pages and columns on labor, employment, vocational training, meritorious people... bearing the identity of a newspaper in the field of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

As the mouthpiece of the Ministry of Policy, the Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper was the first newspaper to establish a "Gratitude Fund" and initiate a movement to support Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

At the same time as initiating, encouraging and motivating the movement, the Newspaper directly supported 2 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Quang Nam and actively participated in the gratitude movement, supported the construction of gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries, and was also the first newspaper to mobilize donations of televisions for Truong Sa soldiers in 1994 right after the visit to Truong Sa by Deputy Minister and Editor-in-Chief Trinh To Tam... These are also unforgettable marks for the Labor and Society Newspaper.

From a printed newspaper in the South, published every 2 weeks, the newspaper increased to 1 issue per week, then 2 issues per week, in the second year, on August 31, 1995, with the policy of continuous improvement to meet the information needs, the newspaper comprehensively innovated its content and form, introduced a new series to readers and increased to 3 issues per week. Up to now, the Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper has had the Dan Sinh Electronic Newspaper (with the domain name baodansinh.vn) and the publication For Children, which has contributed an additional information channel on the field of social security. Information is increasingly faster, more complete, with a modern journalistic style, the skills of the journalism team are increasingly solid.

At the same time, it is also necessary to study appropriate steps to meet the requirements in the era of technology and digital media.
