On the morning of June 12, after many hours of heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 1, many landslides appeared on the roads leading to Son Tra peninsula, posing a potential safety risk to residents and tourists traveling through this area.
According to Thanh Nien reporters at 10:30 a.m. on June 12, in the area near Linh Ung Pagoda (Son Tra District), one of the most popular tourist attractions in Son Tra, 3 to 4 landslides appeared. Notably, the landslide was located right at the hairpin bend near the InterContinental Danang resort area, a large amount of landslide soil and rock from the mountain spilled onto the road, causing serious traffic obstruction.

Mr. Ho Thanh Tuan, a technology car driver who regularly takes tourists to Son Tra peninsula, said: "I picked up passengers early in the morning, and as soon as I got to Son Tra peninsula, I saw many landslides. Some workers used wheelbarrows to clear small rocks, but the biggest ones spilled out onto most of the road, leaving only a 3m path, which is very dangerous. I will temporarily stop taking passengers on this route today to ensure safety."
A serious landslide on Son Tra peninsula caused a large amount of rock and soil to spill onto the asphalt road, leaving only a path of less than 3 meters, making it difficult for tourist vehicles to move through.

It is known that the road to Son Tra peninsula is a steep mountain pass, with many sharp turns, high slopes, and landslides often occur when there is prolonged heavy rain. In particular, this area is also home to many high-end tourist and resort destinations, with a very large volume of visiting vehicles.
Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and tourist beaches of Da Nang City, said that from early morning on June 12, the unit deployed forces to landslide sites on Son Tra Peninsula to coordinate with other forces to ensure safety for vehicles traveling through the area.

According to Mr. Vu, through actual inspection, the authorities recorded landslides and fallen trees occurring at many locations on the Son Tra peninsula. On the Yet Kieu - Ban Co Peak - Bai Bac route, a rockfall appeared about 200m from the Son Tra - Ngu Hanh Son District Forest Ranger Department in the direction of Ban Co Peak, along with two large fallen trees blocking the road, obstructing traffic. One location was about 600m from Ban Co Peak in the direction of Bai Bac and the other location was about 1km from the InterContinental resort.
Hoang Sa route, from Le Van Luong intersection to the front of InterContinental resort, recorded 4 landslides and rolling rocks, mainly concentrated in the landscape area, flower garden in front of the resort, the area 400m from Bai Bac border station towards Linh Ung pagoda, opposite the intersection leading to Bai Nam and the section about 300m from Dong Dinh museum.
Meanwhile, the Bai Bac - Cay Da route and the Suoi Da branch road did not experience landslides. However, on the Tien Sa route, authorities discovered two locations of fallen trees, along with two landslides in the drainage system at the positive slope, located 3 to 3.5 km from the Yet Kieu - Dinh Ban Co - Suoi Om intersection.

On the morning of June 12, the leader of the People's Committee of Son Tra District said that he had reported the incident to the Department of Construction of Da Nang City to direct the functional forces to mobilize specialized vehicles to urgently clear the soil and rocks, and clear the route safely. At the same time, the Son Tra Peninsula Forest Protection Department was also assigned to inspect and handle trees at risk of falling due to heavy rain and wind, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
"We have reported to relevant authorities to mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to quickly handle landslides. In the immediate future, we will assign forces to be on duty at high-risk locations to warn people and tourists not to approach dangerous areas," said a representative of the People's Committee of Son Tra District.

Currently, the weather in Da Nang City is still experiencing heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 1. To ensure the safety of tourists and to overcome the problems caused by the storm, the Management Board continues to temporarily suspend the Yet Kieu - Ban Co peak route. At the same time, the Department of Tourism is requested to notify travel agencies to temporarily stop picking up and dropping off tourists at Son Tra peninsula until the routes are safely repaired.
