With nearly 400 photos, documents and valuable artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh and Hai Phong city, the exhibition includes 3 parts:
Part I: Using our strength to liberate ourselves (1888 -1955)
In order to effectively serve the colonial exploitation policy and enrich the mother country, the French colonialists accelerated the urbanization rate and promoted capital investment to build Hai Phong into an important seaport city, a major industrial, commercial and service center of the North. Hai Phong became a large residential area, attracting a large labor force from all over the country, becoming one of the cradles of the working class.
From very early on, Nguyen Ai Quoc highly appreciated the importance of Hai Phong as the “Great Port of Bac Ky”, an important traffic hub on the international maritime route and an industrial center of the whole country. He chose Hai Phong as the bridgehead to spread Marxism-Leninism and progressive ideas to Vietnam. Under the colonial rule, the people of Hai Phong rose up to fight for their own liberation and their homeland. Hai Phong played an important role in the process of mobilizing the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Since the Party took leadership, the people of Hai Phong have persistently fought, seized the opportunity to rise up and revolt to seize power and liberate their homeland. During the 9-year long resistance war against French colonialism, Hai Phong was the first locality in the North to rise up against French colonialism. On May 13, 1955, one year after the Geneva Agreement was signed, Hai Phong - the last city in the North was liberated.

Part II: Hai Phong - The City of Courage and Victory (1955 - 1975)
After 20 years of resistance war against the American imperialists (1955 - 1975), the Party Committee, army and people of the city continued to promote the tradition of loyalty and determination to win and successfully completed two strategic tasks: defeating the American invaders and building socialism, making an important contribution to the liberation of the South and national reunification.
After the liberation, in 10 years (1955 - 1965), while actively building and developing the economy, Hai Phong enthusiastically competed in labor and production, becoming the homeland of the "Song Duyen Hai" emulation movement in industrial production, the small Ca A stone group became the "leading bird" of the movement to build socialist labor teams... Hai Phong was always ready to support the South, forming a sisterhood with Da Nang - Go Cong, with the spirit of "Each person works as two, for the beloved South", being the cradle that nurtured students - children of Southern cadres who gathered in the North to study.
During the 10-year journey from 1965 to 1975, following his teachings “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”, the Party Committee, army and people of Hai Phong united in "fighting well, producing well", wholeheartedly devoting human and material resources to support the great frontline in the South, ensuring "not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing". The army and people of Hai Phong broke the blockade of the seaport with mines, ensuring the safety of the waterways for aid shipments to safely arrive at the port. With the competitive spirit of "Steady hand with hammer, steady hand with gun", the people of the city enthusiastically worked in production and protected their homeland. Hai Phong was also the starting point of the "unnumbered" ships that made up the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail at sea...
