On November 15, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Fine Arts UNESCO Center (Vietnam Union of UNESCO Associations) coordinated with other units to organize a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of cultural celebrity Van Cao (November 15, 1923 - November 15, 2023) and a seminar on the life and career of Van Cao.

The workshop recorded many comments from delegates, researchers, artists, and representatives of musician Van Cao's family, analyzing the quintessence of music , poetry, and painting that Van Cao left for the world, contributing to creating a new cultural and artistic face for the country.
Musician and poet Nguyen Thuy Kha commented that Van Cao is a talented person in modern Vietnamese literature and art. Van Cao's most special talent is that he spread himself into three art forms: music, poetry and painting. What is more special is that in each of these three art forms, one can see the shadow of the other two.
“In poetry, we see the impression of music and painting. In painting, we see the abundant musicality and poetry, clearly unique in cubist paintings. And in music, we also see the overflowing poetry in the lyrics, the painting in the melody lines,” musician Nguyen Thuy Kha emphasized.
Besides honoring Van Cao's contributions to the country's literature and art, and deeply analyzing the musician's creative talent, many delegates and artists also shared their memories of this master artist.
Artist, Doctor of Aesthetics The Hung said that musician Van Cao loved him like a son. “He often encouraged me to nurture my passion. Van Cao was my role model, lighting the way for me to pursue an artistic career, and because of that, my uncle and I have many profound memories,” said Doctor The Hung.

Talking about his father, painter and poet Van Thao shared: “Our father was a simple man, loved his wife and children with all his heart, cherished his friends and benefactors, shared with colleagues and singers who came and performed his songs with sincerity and kindness. We told each other to try to follow our father’s example in working, to contribute a small part to art.”
Representative of the hometown of musician Van Cao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Lien Minh Commune (Vu Ban District, Ha Nam ) Nguyen Van Chien said that during his lifetime, musician Van Cao returned to visit his father's homeland many times and was welcomed by relatives and neighbors with joy and pride. To remember his contributions and preserve and promote the value of the cultural heritage he left behind, the Party Committee of Lien Minh Commune for the 2020-2025 term issued a Resolution on planning the construction of a Van Cao memorial area with an area of 1.2 hectares, which has been approved by competent authorities and is implementing site clearance and mobilizing socialized funding for construction.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, this memorial area should be oriented towards becoming a Van Cao cultural and artistic park, preserving and honoring the musical, painting and poetic works of this musician.
Delegates also contributed architectural ideas for the Van Cao cultural and artistic park in Lien Minh commune (Vu Ban, Nam Dinh) and the Hai Phong Cultural and Artistic Celebrity Park - the birthplace of musician Van Cao...
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee responded to the call of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee, Vu Ban District People's Committee and Lien Minh Commune to provide consultation, planning, and design for the Van Cao memorial project and call for donations for the project.
