Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation. Lesson 3

Under the guiding light of the Party, the achievements we have made in Party building and national development are enormous, something that any patriotic Vietnamese person is always proud of. However, besides achievements, opportunities and advantages, we also face many intertwined difficulties and challenges.

Combination of "build" and "anti"

Among these challenges, it is worth noting that the sabotage activities of hostile forces are becoming more and more fierce and intense. Therefore, strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting wrong views and distorted arguments is a particularly important task in the work of Party building and rectification. That task is determined in Resolution 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the 12th Politburo. Resolution 35 clearly states: "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation means protecting the Party, the Party's political platform and guidelines; protecting the People, the socialist rule-of-law State; protecting the cause of innovation, industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration; protecting national and ethnic interests; maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development".

In Binh Thuan, after the Politburo's Resolution 35, the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee quickly concretized the tasks and solutions identified in the resolution into Plan 162 for implementation. In that spirit, departments, branches, sectors, the Front, organizations, and localities also focused on implementation and achieved many positive results. The Provincial Police's Steering Committee 35 said that through monitoring, it was shown that the hostile forces' activities against us on the ideological front were very fierce with increasing intensity and spread across all areas of social life. They often took advantage of emerging issues in the country and localities to exploit and organize propaganda activities against the Party's leadership and the State's administration. Their purpose was to undermine people's trust in the Party, the State, and the socialist regime, causing division in the great national unity bloc.

Some of the arguments that they often use recently to distort on social networks are: The struggle against invasion and to protect national independence of our people is a "civil war", "fratricidal war", "cooking flesh and blood". Or on War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), when the whole country turns to martyrs' cemeteries to respectfully offer incense and pay tribute to the great contributions of the heroes who died for the independence of the country, hostile and reactionary forces blacken it with the argument: "The sacrifice of heroic martyrs is unnecessary and meaningless to form a communist regime". These are arguments that distort, incite, and deny the great sacrifices of heroic martyrs and people who have contributed to the revolution. Therefore, we must heighten our vigilance, resolutely fight, refute, and prevent.

Important, regular work

According to the Provincial Police Steering Committee 35, the hostile forces' sabotage activities against us have placed many demands on the police force in general, and the Binh Thuan Provincial Police in particular, in implementing Resolution 35 of the Politburo, and have set new requirements and tasks for the police work. On the basis of closely following the direction of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on implementing Resolution 35, the Provincial Police have deployed many measures and solutions to protect the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation. From 2018 to present, the Provincial Police have prosecuted 4 cases/4 defendants, including 3 cases/3 defendants for the crime of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of organizations and individuals; administratively sanctioned 45 cases, summoned and interrogated 100 cases...

Commenting on this issue, Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of Steering Committee 35 - 16 provinces said that after 5 years of implementing Resolution 35, the awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations, cadres and Party members in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting wrong and hostile views have been increasingly raised. In particular, many people have also developed the ability to react to bad and toxic information and refute it with their sharp comments, reporting to competent authorities to take appropriate measures. Official information has been increasingly provided on media and social networks, contributing to orienting public opinion and refuting wrong, distorted and hostile information. The work of detecting, combating, handling, and refuting false, bad, and toxic information has also achieved many positive results, especially the fight against subjects who post false information on social networks.

Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh said that the implementation of political-social and national defense-security tasks in the locality still has some limitations and shortcomings, especially in State management of the environment and land. There is a situation where some cadres and Party members have not regularly cultivated and trained themselves, leading to violations of Party and State regulations. These limitations and loopholes have been thoroughly exploited by reactionary, opportunistic, and disaffected elements to defame the Party Committee and the government and distort the correct policies of the Party, the State, and Binh Thuan. It is forecasted that in the coming time, hostile forces, disaffected, and opportunistic political forces will continue to step up sabotage activities, distort the Party's policies and the State's laws, defame the leadership of the Party and the State, distort Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, incite internal divisions, and divide the great national unity bloc. Therefore, protecting the Party's ideological foundation plays a very important role in the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system. This is a regular, continuous, and unceasing task.

To do this task well, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that first of all, Party committees and Party organizations must strengthen the dissemination of the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views for cadres, party members, union members, association members and the people to help each person better understand the Party's policies and guidelines and raise their sense of responsibility in protecting the Party's ideological foundation. That process must be carried out well in building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be truly clean and strong, associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.

At the same time, take better care of people's lives; focus on solving people's pressing issues; perform well the work of State management, especially on issues that are prone to negativity, violations, and people's pressing issues, including the issue of State management of land. Strengthen propaganda and education on revolutionary ideals, patriotism, national pride and belief in the path to socialism in our country in forms suitable to each target group. Diversify forms of propaganda and education; promptly provide official information and spread positive information. Focus on equipping cadres, party members, union members, association members, and people with the ability to self-protect and resist the plots and tricks of hostile forces, reactionary, dissatisfied, and opportunistic political elements. Regularly review to promptly detect and handle distorted information, sabotage the Party and the policy of building Binh Thuan province according to regulations.
