On May 30th, the Hue Ancient Citadel Relics Conservation Center announced that it will officially begin collecting entrance fees to the Hai Van Pass relic site from June 2nd.
Accordingly, the entrance fee for visitors to this unique historical site located between the borders of Hue City and Da Nang City is 70,000 VND per person per visit, valid until December 31, 2028.
This fee applies to both Vietnamese and foreign tourists.
The fee collection agency is the Hue Ancient Citadel Conservation Center.
Hai Van Pass is the only national historical monument in Vietnam that is under the management of two localities: Hue City and Da Nang City.
This monument was built in 1826 during the reign of King Minh Mạng, located on the summit of Hải Vân Pass, right in the middle of the administrative dividing line between Huế and Đà Nẵng, more than 500m above sea level.
At the end of 2021, the former Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city agreed to allocate 42 billion VND from the budgets of both localities to restore Hai Van Pass, after a long period of serious deterioration. The restoration is scheduled to be completed in early 2024.
After reaching an agreement on the management plan and the promotion of the historical site's value, the two localities decided to open Hai Van Pass to tourists from August 1, 2024.
