The Mirror reported that the group of British people went fishing in Mequinenza, northeastern Spain earlier this week. They were stunned when they caught a Wels catfish weighing more than 110 kg and measuring more than 2 m long. According to a tour guide, this was the biggest catfish he had ever seen.
Even the locals came to congratulate the British group. The catfish was then released back into the water and is still alive.

Daniel Storey, 31 years old, living in Carlisle - England, has been fishing for 10 years, shared that he was surprised to catch a catfish of such a huge size.
"Catching a giant fish is like something you dream about. I've never seen anything like it. I think it's quite special because of the reaction of my friends," Daniel exclaimed.
Daniel caught the catfish while on a week-long fishing trip with friends Lewis Pattinson and Martin Irwin, both 32. It took them about 40 minutes to land the fish from the Segre River using a boat.
It is known that the Wels catfish can weigh up to nearly 140 kg.
Peter Irwin, 41, from Monster Catfishing Tours, the company that operated the fishing trip, was also with the British group at the time.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime event," he said. "I've seen people come here for 20 years to fish and never catch a fish that big. It's their lucky day."
The Wels catfish has a long gray body, large eyes and mouth. This fish usually eats fish and birds.
