Authorities in Hanoi have arrested Nguyen Duy Phuong (born in 1983, residing in Ha Bang commune, Thach That district, Hanoi) for investigation into the crime of murder.
According to the investigation, on the morning of September 7th, Mr. PQT (born in 1982, residing in Quoc Oai district, Hanoi, a taxi driver) went to pick up passengers. Afterward, his family lost contact with him. Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3, it wasn't until the morning of September 8th that Mr. T.'s family searched for him and found his car in Sen Phuong commune, Phuc Tho district.
Upon receiving information from Mr. T.'s family, the Phuc Tho District Police, along with Mr. T.'s family, searched the surrounding area and discovered Mr. T.'s body at the edge of the Day River. Through the examination of the crime scene and forensic analysis, it was suspected that Mr. T. was murdered.
At approximately 5:30 AM on September 10th, the Phuc Tho District Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police of Hanoi City, apprehended Nguyen Duy Phuong, the suspect in the murder of Mr. T. During questioning, Phuong confessed to his crime.
Through this investigation, it was determined that on the morning of September 7th, Phuong walked to the intersection in Quoc Oai town where she encountered a taxi driven by Mr. PQT. Phuong then hired Mr. T. to take her to Phu Cuong commune, Ba Vi district, to meet a relative.
As they approached Van Lang Bridge (Ba Vi District), Phuong, sitting in the back seat, took a nylon rope, looped it around T.'s neck, and tightened it. Seeing that T. was dead, Phuong dragged the victim's body onto the back seat and then drove T.'s car around, looking for a secluded place to hide and dispose of the body.
At approximately 2 PM that same day, the suspect arrived at the Cam Dinh - Hiep Thuan Ecological Project area in Vong Xuyen commune, Phuc Tho district. Seeing the area was deserted, Phuong turned onto a dirt road where his vehicle got stuck in the mud and the battery died. Phuong got out of the car and asked local residents to help him find a tow truck.
While waiting for a vehicle, the suspect searched the victim's body and took approximately 3 million VND. Afterwards, Phuong dragged the victim's body to the water's edge of the Day River and used dry branches and leaves from the bank to cover it in order to avoid detection.
About 30 minutes later, Phuong managed to get someone to pull the car out of the mud and help him start the engine. He drove around looking for a place to hide the car, but when he reached the Phung Thuong - Long Xuyen inter-communal road, the car's wheels slipped into the edge of a rice field. Due to the heavy rain and storm, he couldn't find a tow truck, so he locked the car and went to find a nearby guesthouse to sleep.
On the morning of September 8th, Phuong hired someone to tow the car away, then drove to Hamlet 14, Sen Phuong Commune, and parked it next to the former headquarters of the Phuong Do Commune People's Committee. Afterward, Phuong abandoned the car and went home. After eating, Phuong bought 5 liters of gasoline and returned to where the car was parked (Sen Phuong Commune, Phuc Tho District) to burn the car to destroy evidence.
As she approached her destination, Phuong saw many locals and police officers surrounding the car, so she left. Afterward, Phuong took a bus to Cao Bang . Upon arriving in Cao Bang, she took another bus back to Hanoi and then returned to Thach That district. In the early morning of September 9th, Phuong was arrested by the police.
