Arrest suspect of kidnapping 3-year-old child and demanding ransom of 2 billion VND

On October 3, Dong Nai Provincial Police handed over suspect Nguyen Thanh Son (34 years old, residing in Tan An City, Long An Province) to Long An Provincial Police to investigate the act of child kidnapping.

Initial information, on the afternoon of October 2, Nguyen Thanh Son went to a kindergarten in Tan An City ( Long An ), enticing LMC (3 years old, living in Tan An City) to go with him. Nguyen Thanh Son is a friend of the kidnapped girl's father.

After kidnapping the girl, Son took her to a hotel in An Phu ward, Thu Duc city (HCMC) and called LMC's family to ask them to transfer 2 billion VND into their account. If the money was not transferred immediately, he would kill the girl.

After receiving the 1 billion VND, Son locked the girl in a hotel and took a bus to Lam Dong province to escape.

Upon receiving the news, Dong Nai Provincial Police coordinated with relevant forces to deploy all forces to block all roads and check all vehicles passing through the area.

At 9:25 p.m. on October 2, the police discovered Son on a PT bus to Lam Dong. Dong Nai police arrested Son.

Working with the police, Son confessed that he had locked the girl up at the SH Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and asked the manager to look after her. The police later rescued the girl and handed her over to her family safely.

The suspect was then transferred to Long An Police to investigate the case.
