Suspect arrested for kidnapping 3-year-old and demanding 2 billion VND ransom.

On October 3rd, the Dong Nai Provincial Police handed over suspect Nguyen Thanh Son (34 years old, residing in Tan An City, Long An Province) to the Long An Provincial Police for investigation into the crime of child abduction.

According to initial information, on the afternoon of October 2nd, Nguyen Thanh Son went to a kindergarten in Tan An City (Long An province) and lured LMC (3 years old, residing in Tan An City) to go with him. Nguyen Thanh Son is a friend of the father of the kidnapped girl.

After kidnapping the girl, Son took her to a hotel in An Phu ward, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and called the girl's family, demanding they transfer 2 billion VND into his account. He threatened to kill the child if they did not transfer the money immediately.

After receiving the 1 billion VND, Son locked the girl in a hotel and boarded a bus to Lam Dong province to escape.

Upon receiving the report, the Dong Nai Provincial Police, in coordination with relevant forces, deployed all personnel to set up checkpoints on all roads and inspect all vehicles passing through the area.

At 9:25 PM on October 2nd, police located Son on a PT passenger bus heading to Lam Dong. Dong Nai police then proceeded to arrest Son.

Working with the police, Son confessed to holding the girl captive at the SH Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and asking the manager to look after her. The police later rescued the child and safely returned her to her family.

The suspect was subsequently taken to the Long An Provincial Police for further investigation.
