On July 13th, the Criminal Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police announced that they had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute and detain suspect Vo Cong Tanh (55 years old, residing on Ngu Binh Street, An Tay Ward, Hue City) for the act of brokering prostitution.

Previously, on July 4th, the Criminal Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police conducted an administrative inspection at Do Quan guesthouse (153 Ngu Binh Street, Hue City) and discovered four people engaging in prostitution.
Through the expanded investigation, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police determined that suspect Vo Cong Tanh was the person who brokered the prostitution transaction in the area.
At the police station, this "pimp" confessed that brokering prostitution for clients happened daily. He was the one who negotiated the price and location for the prostitution transaction, in order to receive a commission.
Ngu Binh Street was once a "hot spot" for prostitution. Many businesses operating under the guise of garden cafes and guesthouses offered prostitutes to customers, a situation that was reported in the press and sparked public outrage.
In August 2020, the Criminal Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police discovered and apprehended three couples engaging in prostitution at the Do Quan guesthouse.
Do Quan, the owner of the guesthouse, also confessed that although he ran a guesthouse, if customers wanted to buy sex, he would contact some intermediaries to bring prostitutes to the guesthouse to provide services to the customers.
