On social media on the afternoon of September 10, a clip was shared about a child who died after being vaccinated at the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital of Vinh Phuc province.
According to family members, the two boys were born by cesarean section on September 9. At 9am on September 10, the two boys were taken by medical staff to get vaccinated against hepatitis B. At around noon the same day, both boys showed signs of cyanosis, so their families took them to the emergency room.

One child later died at the hospital, the other child also showed signs of cyanosis so he was immediately transferred to the National Children's Hospital. Currently, the health of the boy who was treated in Hanoi is out of danger.
The patient's family was upset and said that when the incident happened, there was no doctor in the emergency department.
According to initial information from the hospital, the 32-year-old woman (in Vinh Phuc) was admitted to the hospital on September 8, carrying a 38-week-old twin pregnancy through IVF (in vitro fertilization). Previously, this woman had given birth twice. She had a cesarean section on the morning of September 9, and the two baby boys were born weighing 2.9 kg and 3 kg, respectively.
At around 10am on September 10, the two babies were vaccinated against hepatitis B and then monitored properly at the Obstetrics Department. Both babies had no abnormalities after the vaccination.
Regarding this incident, the leader of Vinh Phuc Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital said that the hospital is currently working with authorities to conduct a forensic autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The vaccine used to inject the two newborn boys was the hepatitis B vaccine in the Expanded Immunization Program.
