In recent days, news that coach Poking is about to take over the Singapore national team has attracted significant attention from fans. According to Singaporean media, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is urgently searching for a replacement for coach Tsutomu Ogura, who parted ways with the national team in June.
Notably, out of approximately 60 applications received, the shortlist was narrowed down to 15 names, and surprisingly, Coach Polking appeared alongside names like Fabio Cannavaro and Shin Tae Yong.

Following rumors of him coaching the Singapore national team, the coach of Hanoi Police FC officially stated: “I only learned about this from the press. I am very happy to know that the Football Association of Singapore is aware of me. But I still have a contract with Hanoi Police FC and a good relationship with the president. I can only say that if one day the president says: 'Mano, it's time for you to leave,' then I will leave.”
With these statements, Coach Polking affirmed that the rumors were unfounded, and that he would continue to lead Hanoi Police FC.
During his nearly two years as coach, Polking made his mark by helping the police force's football team win the 2024-25 National Cup and finish as runners-up in the 2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship. Prior to that, he also helped the Thai national team win the AFF Cup two consecutive times.
This season, Hanoi Police FC is participating in five tournaments simultaneously, making Coach Polking's role even more crucial. To achieve their goals, the police team has recently acquired many quality players, both domestic and foreign, with two overseas Vietnamese players, Adou Minh and Brandon Ly, receiving the most attention.
According to the schedule, Hanoi Police will begin the 2025-26 season with the National Super Cup match against Nam Dinh Club on August 9th.
