Two-year-old boy who was abused has been discharged from hospital.

Two-year-old NGK, a victim of abuse by her mother and stepfather, will be transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Social Work and Vocational Education for Youth for care.

On May 15th, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of Children's Hospital 1, stated that K.'s health is currently stable. The basic physical injuries are well controlled, and the child's spirits are more positive.

After a comprehensive assessment, the hospital and relevant units carried out the discharge procedures and handed the child over to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Social Work and Vocational Education for Youth.

At her new home, K. will be cared for in a safe living environment, receive regular health check-ups, and psychological support.

This is also a necessary solution to protect children from the risk of re-harm, while allowing authorities to continue handling the case in accordance with the law.

Previously, on May 3rd, K. was transferred to Children's Hospital 1 in a critical condition with severe injuries, respiratory failure, liver, spleen, and lung contusions, suspected to be due to prolonged abuse.

Doctors urgently held consultations, implemented comprehensive treatment protocols, and provided initial psychological support for the child. The hospital also activated its "One-Stop Shop Model" to receive and support children who have been abused, assaulted, or abandoned.

Throughout the treatment process, the medical team, nurses, and the Social Work Department paid special attention and coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure the best interests of the child.

Regarding the case, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency has issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and temporarily detain Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc (33 years old, the biological mother of child K.) and Danh Chon (30 years old, from An Giang province ) to investigate the act of abusing or torturing the child.
