1. In any activity, the person performing it needs proficiency in the operations. Besides that, perseverance, coupled with attentiveness, will easily yield results. In the common sense, perseverance is the ability to endure hardship and difficulty for a long time when carrying out a task of a certain level of difficulty.
Uncle Ho, the beloved leader of our nation, once spoke about perseverance and determination in work. During a trip to inspect the repair of bridges and roads from Thai Nguyen to Cao Bang, President Ho Chi Minh met with the 312th Youth Volunteer Team on the evening of March 20, 1951, who were working on a road in Na Cu, Bach Thong district, Bac Can province. He presented the team with four lines of poetry: “Nothing is difficult / Only fear of a lack of perseverance / Digging mountains and filling seas / With determination, success will be achieved.”
2. Many famous people have said things about perseverance. Benjamin Franklin once wrote: "Perseverance and persistence conquer all things." Another author wrote about the power of patience and perseverance: "Patience, perseverance, and sweat are the unbeatable combination of success" (Napoleon Hill). Some authors even argue that persistently pursuing a task is an indispensable step towards achieving success: "The four steps to success: Plan purposefully; prepare diligently; proceed actively; and pursue persistently" (William Arthur Ward). Effort in the process of accomplishing tasks is essential for each individual. This effort, coupled with perseverance, easily helps the subject achieve success. Elbert Hubbard wrote about this: "A little more perseverance, a little more effort, and what seemed like hopeless failure can be transformed into brilliant success."
3. Real-life experience shows that students need perseverance in their studies, practice, and research. We know that learning is a long process that requires time. Learners accumulate knowledge systematically and hone the necessary skills for each subject through numerous practical exercises. Students need to pay attention to lectures, be persistent and diligent in their practice, little by little, over time, in different and successive classes.
For students, a final-year internship is essential. The internship process provides them with practical work experience, supplementing theoretical knowledge. Gaining hands-on experience at the internship unit allows for comparison and observation. Through persistent observation of real-world work, students can develop a solid graduation internship report, easily proposing highly feasible solutions for the internship unit from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
For graduate students and doctoral candidates, perseverance and diligence in researching various sources and conducting field surveys are essential. Building upon fundamental scientific theories, the broader the scope of research, the more persistent and in-depth the study, the easier it is to derive new insights, contributing to the formation and completion of master's theses and doctoral dissertations, especially those with direct relevance to life. Looking closer to the working people around us: Construction workers diligently build houses and structures, day after day, stage by stage, from foundation to walls, to floors, and finally to completion. Each stage requires attention and different methods. Some stages are easier, others more difficult. All of this requires the perseverance of the worker and the supervisor responsible for the project.
Marketing staff selling the company's products also need perseverance. Diligently and skillfully explaining product features to customers over the course of a long period will help the company sell more products.
For professionals working in government agencies, attention and perseverance are also necessary in advisory work. Based on their professional knowledge and the regulations of higher authorities, those advising leaders on decision-making need to carefully study the regulations, understand the current situation, and then propose solutions to the leadership. Perseverance is essential for advisory staff in many specific situations.
4. There are countless professions, tasks, and situations that require workers and those in positions of responsibility to make a great effort, be attentive, persistent, and resilient in their work to achieve the final result. Robert Collier was right when he wrote: "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day after day." This idea is also similar to Aesop's when he said: "Little by little is the secret to success."
The repetition of numerous daily efforts, or the gradual progress of tasks over successive periods, is it not a manifestation of perseverance in work and action on the part of the individuals involved?
Life is diverse and multifaceted. Almost every job requires perseverance, hard work, and dedication to achieve success. This perseverance applies to both manual and intellectual labor.
