Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital celebrates 70th anniversary of its founding

On August 2, Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital, Quang Tri province celebrated its 70th anniversary (August 4, 1955 - August 4, 2025). Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province Hoang Duc Thang; Director of the Department of Health Diep Thi Minh Quyet attended the ceremony.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang presented flowers to congratulate the staff of Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital.

Vinh Linh Regional Hospital was established (at provincial level) according to Decree 68 dated August 4, 1955 of the Ministry of Health .

Vinh Linh area has a very important strategic position, being a major frontline of the North, the direct rear of the Southern revolution. Since 1965, Vinh Linh has become a target of fierce attacks by the US military.

Vinh Linh Regional Hospital was destroyed by American bombs during the war years.

Overcoming difficulties and dangers, the hospital carried out surgical and general medical procedures, dispersed to many areas, had guns and medicine, and braved bombs and bullets to promptly serve the people. During the period of 1965-1972, the hospital provided emergency care to 9,350 people; performed 3,337 minor, major, and secondary surgeries; examined and treated 275,317 people.

To carry out this noble mission, 91 doctors, nurses and medical staff of Vinh Linh Regional Hospital heroically sacrificed their lives. The hospital was awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces in 1995.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province Nguyen Dang Quang affirmed that over the past 70 years, Vinh Linh Regional Hospital, now Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital, has inherited the heroic tradition, promoted the spirit of solidarity, determination, leadership and organization to achieve and exceed the set goals and tasks.

The martyrs' memorial house is located on the campus of Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital today.

Preventive work and the quality of medical examination and treatment are increasingly improved; equipment and machinery are enhanced. The quality of emergency and treatment of internal medicine and pediatrics; the ability to detect, diagnose and treat serious cases such as respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, stroke, arrhythmia, and kidney failure are improved. The hospital performs many advanced and specialized techniques in various fields, bringing outstanding treatment results.

The 70th anniversary of its founding is an opportunity for the staff and doctors of Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital to review the proud tradition, continue to strive to do a good job of protecting and caring for people's health, and contribute greatly to the socio-economic development of the region.
