Previously, at 4:30 p.m. on May 9, Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary received and treated fisherman Tran Van Uu who suffered severe acute decompression sickness while fishing in the Truong Sa archipelago.

According to the captain of fishing boat BT 97669TS, on May 8, the patient dived twice, for a total of about 4 hours, at a depth of 9 to 20m. When he surfaced, the patient experienced numbness and weakness in both limbs and difficulty urinating. On May 9, the patient dived for about 2 hours, at a depth of 8m. When he surfaced, the symptoms did not improve and became more severe.

The patient was taken to Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary for emergency treatment. Patient Tran Van Uu, born in 1986, from Phu Long, Long Hai, Binh Thuan, is a crew member of fishing boat BT 97669TS, captained by Tran Huu Khiem, born in 1974, from the same hometown. Through understanding the situation, the patient has a good health history.
