Playing the role of Thach in the movie Life is Still Beautiful, actor Viet Hoang made a strong impression on many audiences. Sharing with VTC News , the actor said he carefully observed people with similar circumstances and personalities to Thach to portray his character.
However, the audience's reaction to the character Thach is what surprised Viet Hoang.
- Thach's journey in "Life is still beautiful" is almost over, are you satisfied with what you received from this role?
I had to go through many castings to get this role. So, being able to play the role of Thach was lucky for me. Furthermore, during the filming process, I learned a lot of experience from the veteran actors and director, Meritorious Artist Danh Dung, so I always feel happy when I can transform into the character Thach, portraying the role with my own ability.

- When it first aired, this role received a lot of criticism from netizens. How did you deal with that?
Actually, when I read the script, I thought that the audience would react. However, I did not think that the reaction to my role would be so strong. I am quite a curious person, so I read every comment from the audience. I think that the role that people “throw stones” at means that people are following the plot and flow of the film very closely.
Regarding the audience's reaction to my role, I am always selective and open-minded. Because if I pay too much attention to negative comments or harsh reactions from the audience, it will affect my psychology when performing the following scenes.
- Although you are only a secondary character, you receive special attention from the audience. How do you feel?
I feel very happy because it means that the audience accepts my role in particular and the film in general. Even though it is just a color that helps create the brilliant picture of Life is still beautiful , I still feel very lucky.
I just try to do my best, and whether the audience loves or cares for me depends on many factors. I always want to thank the audience for watching and supporting the film.
Not only an actor, Viet Hoang is also a content creator.
- The film has a very special setting and script. Surely the filming process will bring you many interesting impressions?
During filming, I got to live in the character and work with everyone in the crew at Long Bien market, so the relationship between me and everyone in the crew was very good.
I learned a lot from everyone, and the most special person to me in the crew was definitely father Luu (Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai). Not only did we call each other father and son, but even when filming and in real life, I felt the close relationship between me and father Luu.
Dad's acting was very impressive to me. The scene that I remember the most was when Dad found out that Thach had taken Nga's money. The way Dad expressed his disappointment and pain was so real and poignant that it pushed my emotions up a lot in that scene.

- According to the latest movie plot, the character Thach is considered unreasonable because he is a university valedictorian, smart and good at studying but was deceived by Bat and was also led into loan sharking. Do you think this comment is correct?
In real life, there are many people like Thach, who are good at studying but have very poor life skills.
Viet Hoang
I personally think this comment depends a lot on whether the audience has ever met or interacted with people like Thach. In reality, there are many people like Thach in real life, who are good at studying but have very poor life skills. On the contrary, there will be people like Bat, who do not have the conditions to study properly but are exposed to life very early.
I myself have encountered a number of cases like Thach and I observed them very carefully to filter out suitable expressions and put them into my character.
"Both Anh Tuan (playing Bat) and I tried very hard to portray our roles."
- How do you feel when the characters Thach and Bat are becoming the focus of criticism from the audience?
Both Anh Tuan (playing Bat) and I have tried very hard to portray our roles. Therefore, the fact that the two characters have become the focus of criticism from the audience does not put pressure on me. On the contrary, I think it is a positive thing for our roles.
Because based on the current situation of the film, Thach and Bat are clearly the ones to blame because they bring trouble and tragedy to the people around them. The audience feels this and feels uncomfortable with the characters, which proves that we have succeeded in portraying the characters.
- Thank you Viet Hoang for sharing this!
