Binh Dinh: Many businesses set up funds to develop science and technology and innovation

On the morning of March 27, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province coordinated with the National Startup Association and the International Center for Science and Education (ICISE) to organize the 6th National Innovative Startup Forum - Binh Dinh 2025.

Experts shared at the seminar: "Converging global resources to develop the innovation ecosystem in Binh Dinh province".

This event aims to concretize the implementation of Resolution No. 57 dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology (S&T) development, innovation (I&T) and national digital transformation.

With the theme “Convergence of global resources to develop local innovation ecosystems and startups in the digital economy era”, the forum is not only an opportunity to share and learn experiences but also a bridge to promote cooperation between startups, investors, businesses and innovation support organizations at home and abroad.

The forum brought together experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, innovation and e-commerce, opening up opportunities for international cooperation, experience exchange and investment attraction, contributing to promoting the strong development of the startup ecosystem in Vietnam in general and Binh Dinh province in particular.

Within the framework of the forum, Binh Dinh province announced that it had established a Science and Technology Development Fund with a capital of 23 billion VND. In addition, enterprises in the province have also established a Science and Technology Development and Innovation Fund of about 140 billion VND.

Of which, Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical - Medical Equipment Joint Stock Company (Bidiphar) 110 billion VND; Phu Tai Joint Stock Company 10 billion VND; Young Entrepreneurs Association 5 billion VND and some other enterprises 25 billion VND). TMA Solutions also spent 1 million USD to invest in innovation for enterprises in Binh Dinh.

According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province, the Science and Technology Development and Innovation Fund of enterprises is considered an important policy to promote research and development activities of science and technology in enterprises.

This is also a tool to help businesses proactively implement research, application and technological innovation activities; improve productivity, quality and production and business efficiency; increase the ability to absorb new technology, and enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

“After the forum, the Department of Science and Technology will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to guide and provide maximum support for the formation of new and supplementary funds so that they can operate smoothly and achieve their intended purposes, bringing the highest efficiency to businesses and the province's innovation startup community,” affirmed Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha.

At the forum, 8 memorandums of understanding were also signed between the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province and the National Startup Association; between the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province and the ICISE Center, the Binh Dinh Young Entrepreneurs Association, the National Startup Development Investment Fund and a number of enterprises.

This is considered a premise to support the strong development of the local creative startup ecosystem in the future.
