Chris Espinosa was one of Apple's first employees, joining the company in 1977 at the age of 14. Nearly half a century later, he continues to work at the world's largest technology corporation.

Espinosa joined Apple when the company was still a small startup operating out of Steve Jobs's parents' garage. His high school science teacher advised him against joining because he was concerned about the unruly nature of its founders, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. However, he ignored the warning and began a journey that has lasted nearly 50 years with Apple.

As the company’s eighth employee, Espinosa played an early role in software development, and over the years he would help create a number of core products, from Mac OS, HyperCard, AppleScript to Xcode, the toolset familiar to iOS and macOS developers today.

During his time at Apple, Espinosa briefly left to attend the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating, he returned and continued to hold various positions in different departments. Colleagues say he is a testament to the steadfastness and loyalty that is rare in the technology industry.

In an interview, Espinosa once called Steve Jobs a “mad genius,” showing the complex but also inspiring relationship between the characters associated with the early stages of Apple. Despite their differences, he still laid the foundation for many iconic products with Jobs and Wozniak, contributing to the transformation of Apple from a small garage into a global technology empire.

More than 45 years after he first joined the company, Espinosa continues to work at Apple. Although he has not revealed his future plans, he has left a strong mark on the company's history, becoming a symbol of loyalty and long-term dedication.
