Binh Phuoc surpasses schedule in eliminating temporary houses by 2025

(PLVN) - Binh Phuoc has completed 2 months ahead of schedule the plan to build new houses and repair 765 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the area.

On the morning of May 16, Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee held a conference to summarize the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025. Attending the conference were Mr. Le Viet Binh - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in charge of the South; and provincial leaders including Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tuyet Minh, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Ha Anh Dung, representatives of departments, branches, localities, businesses and sponsors.

Implementing the Prime Minister 's direction, Binh Phuoc province has established Steering Committees at all levels, urgently reviewed and resolutely implemented the program. As a result, by April 30, 2025, 6 months earlier than the Central's request and 2 months earlier than the provincial plan, all 765 temporary and dilapidated houses had been rebuilt and repaired, including 625 houses for poor and near-poor households and 140 houses for people with meritorious services. The total implementation cost reached more than 65.4 billion VND, along with 1,500 working days mobilized from the community.

At the conference, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 11 groups, 20 individuals and honored 4 businesses and 3 entrepreneurs with many positive contributions to the program.

In her speech, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh affirmed that the success of the program comes from its profound humanity, strong leadership, clear division of labor and consensus of the entire political system, businesses and people. She emphasized that although the emulation movement has been completed, the work of eliminating temporary houses will continue to be maintained. The province will continue to review households in urgent need of housing, especially those whose houses have deteriorated despite having received support before, in order to have timely and effective support plans.
