Bitcoin's highest price of the session reached $107,148 before falling to $106,877, marking a 5.43% increase from the end of last week. The second-highest-ranked cryptocurrency, ether, also recorded a 1.85% increase and traded at $3,975.70.
Bitcoin's price surge continued after news that President-elect Donald Trump would maintain a Bitcoin strategic reserve fund, with forecasts suggesting the price could surpass $110,000. Investor sentiment was further boosted by the addition of MicroStrategy, a major software company, to the Nasdaq 100 index, increasing expectations of new capital inflows into Bitcoin.
On the same day, the Nasdaq index rose 1.2% to 20,173.89 points, marking its second close above 20,000 points. Strong earnings from Broadcom, Alphabet (Google's parent company), and several other major technology companies were factors driving this rally.
Conversely, the Dow Jones index fell slightly by 0.3% to 43,717.48 points, while the S&P 500 rose 0.4% to 6,074.08 points.
According to analysts, this development occurred as investors were assessing recent economic data and awaiting the final policy announcement of the year from the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
