The Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Notice No. 9271/BCT-ATMT dated November 24 on the report on flood response and recovery work in the Central region.
Regarding the direction and management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the announcement stated that on November 23, the Ministry of Industry and Trade attended a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister with ministries, branches and localities to direct the response and recovery work for floods in the South Central region. In particular, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to urgently and resolutely fix the power system problem and immediately restore power supply to serve people's daily life and production.
Quickly restore production and business activities; strictly control the commodity market, prevent speculation and price increases of essential goods, focus on supplying and transporting goods to flooded areas; coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to review and re-evaluate shortcomings in the management and operation of hydroelectric reservoirs.
On November 23, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) mobilized more than 250 officers and employees to support Dak Lak province (the reinforcement force includes officers and employees of the EVNCPC Forward Command Board and the Power Companies of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai).
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will organize a working group to inspect and evaluate reservoir operations and ensure dam safety for hydropower projects in Lam Dong province from November 25-26.
Regarding the situation of repairing the power system and restoring power supply, as of 11:00 a.m. on November 24, according to EVN's report: The 110 kV transformer station and 110 kV line have been completely restored. The power companies of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang and Quang Ngai have also completely restored.
Regarding the situation of stockpiling and regulating goods in localities that are likely to be affected, the announcement said that the Market Management Departments of provinces and cities continue to direct Market Management Teams to strengthen management of the area, closely monitor the management area... closely monitor the market price situation, promote the collection of information on prices of essential food items, modern medicines, medical equipment and supplies to promptly detect violations and strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
The Department of Industry and Trade of the affected areas has been directed by the Prime Minister's telegram and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to increase the stock of essential goods (rice, drinking water, medicine, emergency supplies) to respond when traffic is interrupted or demand increases.
Large distribution businesses (supermarkets, warehouses) are also mobilized to transport goods to affected areas, ensuring a stable supply of essential goods.
The direction of flood response and consequence recovery has been implemented vigorously, in accordance with the spirit of the Prime Minister's and the Ministry of Industry and Trade's dispatches; affected provinces are in the urgent stage of restoring infrastructure, evacuating people, and rebuilding.
Regarding goods, reserve and regulation efforts have been promptly initiated to ensure that people do not lack essential goods; market management forces have been active to prevent profiteering.
