Accordingly, 2025 marks a significant milestone for Vietnam's import and export activities, with total trade reaching approximately US$930 billion. Notably, exports maintained a growth rate of 17%, significantly higher than many economies in the region and far exceeding the assigned target. The Ministry of Industry and Trade proactively coordinated with other ministries, requesting the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology to jointly manage imported raw materials for export production; simultaneously, it required industry associations and businesses to strengthen self-control of the raw material supply chain. Risk warning systems were also regularly implemented, focusing on high-risk items for origin fraud and trade defense measures such as plywood, furniture, steel, and artificial stone, helping businesses improve compliance and the utilization rate of tariff preferences.

At the institutional level, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is finalizing a Decree guiding the implementation of the Law on Foreign Trade Management regarding the origin of goods. Following the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, the draft Decree is being reviewed and refined with close coordination from various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security , to ensure its thoroughness, feasibility, and practical relevance.

In the context of rapid import and export growth and increasingly deep integration, managing the origin of goods is not only a technical requirement but has become a pillar protecting national interests, the reputation of Vietnamese goods, and the competitiveness of businesses. The decisive steps taken by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2025 clearly demonstrate its determination to build a proactive, transparent, and effective origin management system, accompanying businesses on the path to sustainable integration.
