According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the exam will reach 852,000 with 7.6 million applications for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 400 universities and colleges nationwide.

The admission regulations allow candidates to register for multiple wishes and do not need to choose the method or combination of admissions; the software system will automatically choose the most beneficial direction for the candidates. Therefore, the total number of actual wishes that must be considered on the system is up to over 50 million, an increase of about 2 times compared to 2024.

The Ministry of Education and Training said that the consistent policy of the Ministry and schools is to transfer difficult and complicated tasks to themselves and apply technology to solve them, bringing maximum convenience and fairness to candidates. From the registration process, paying fees to confirming admission, candidates do it entirely online.

To meet the higher requirements of 2025, the general admission support software system (including admission and virtual filtering) has been upgraded. The system was initially overloaded, but was promptly resolved. The system has completed processing and provided data to schools for timely announcement on August 22.

The Ministry of Education and Training also increased the time and number of virtual filtering times for schools to carefully review data and minimize errors. At the same time, after announcing the benchmark scores, schools will continue to need 2 to 3 days to review, correct errors and complete the admission list, notify candidates, and update the Ministry's system to serve candidates to confirm admission.

Thus, from August 22 to 24, candidates who have been admitted to a school will be notified by that school and can look up information on the portal provided by the school. Candidates who do not receive admission notices are either because the school has not completed updating the data, has not announced the list of successful candidates, or there is an error.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, from 8:00 a.m. on August 25, after most schools had uploaded their admission list data, the Ministry reopened the general admission support system for candidates to confirm their admission. The system is operating completely stably. By 12:00 p.m. on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully confirmed their admission (exceeding the total number of candidates admitted in the first round of 2024).

“With such a large amount of data, along with diverse admission methods and conditions of universities and colleges, errors are inevitable, even at a very small rate. As in previous years, these errors are mainly due to admission input data (admission methods, conditions, admission criteria, evidence of candidates' priorities, foreign language certificates, etc.), some errors are due to manual operations of some schools during the admission process.

However, due to careful preparation and lessons learned from previous years, the actual number of errors has decreased significantly compared to 2024. The Ministry of Education and Training and universities and colleges have assigned staff to work on hotlines to receive feedback and questions from candidates and parents through many channels (phone numbers, emails) and coordinate to handle and resolve immediately. From the evening of August 23 until now, every day the Ministry's admissions department has received and forwarded 20-30 feedback from candidates through all channels to schools for processing," the Ministry of Education and Training informed.

According to the admission regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training is responsible for resolving errors. If necessary, the Ministry will support, guide and direct other universities to coordinate in handling the issue. After listening to feedback on major errors of some higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training has promptly directed and guided them; to date, most cases have been resolved in accordance with regulations.

The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that the university and college admissions in 2025 are currently on schedule, meeting requirements, ensuring the rights of candidates; the general admission system this year is operating stably.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the cases of not being able to access information in the past few days are because the schools have not completed reviewing and completing the data; cases with errors will be resolved promptly, in accordance with regulations; all candidates who meet the admission requirements will certainly be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time.

The Ministry of Education and Training also recommends that schools that receive information and feedback about errors in the admission process that may affect the rights of candidates should promptly provide it to the Ministry (Department of Higher Education) for consideration, handling, and ensuring the rights of candidates.
