On April 22nd, the "24h News" program broadcast on VTV1 television channel featured a report reflecting on the organization of extra classes and tutoring that violate the regulations in Circular 29/2024/TT-BGDĐT in Hanoi .
According to the report, in the Chua Lang area (Dong Da district, Hanoi), a cultural enrichment center attracts hundreds of students attending extra classes in the mornings and afternoons.
According to reports, this is a place frequently visited by students from a nearby public school for extra lessons in Math, Literature, English, and Natural Sciences .
One student stated that their class has 34 students, and all 34 are enrolled in extra classes at this center. The center currently has approximately 500 students, with a staggered schedule to ensure rotation among the groups. The tuition fee ranges from around 2 million VND per month for four subjects.
Notably, according to parents, the teachers at the center are the same people who teach in the classroom.
Following this report, the Ministry of Education and Training issued document No. 1945/BGDĐT-GDPT to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, requesting them to investigate and verify the information, strictly handle any violations (if any) according to regulations; and report the results of the handling to the Ministry of Education and Training in writing before April 30th.
According to Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Hanoi currently has nearly 2,900 schools, approximately 2.3 million students, and 130,000 teachers. The organization of extra classes and tutoring is a complex issue with a high demand; without strict and appropriate management measures, the students are the ones who suffer the most.
