On April 22, the 24-hour Movement program broadcast on VTV1 channel had a report reflecting on the organization of extra teaching and learning contrary to the regulations in Circular 29/2024/TT-BGDDT in Hanoi.
According to the report, in the Chua Lang area (Dong Da district, Hanoi), a cultural training center attracts hundreds of students to attend extra classes in the mornings and afternoons.
According to reports, this is where students from a nearby public school often go to study extra Math, Literature, English and Natural Sciences.
One student said that her class has 34 students and all 34 students attend extra classes at this center. The center currently has about 500 students, with a staggered schedule to ensure rotation between groups. Tuition fees range around 2 million VND per month for 4 subjects.
Notably, according to parents, the teachers at the center are the ones who are directly teaching in class.
In response to this feedback, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Document No. 1945/BGDĐT-GDPT to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, requesting to inspect, verify information, strictly handle violations (if any) according to regulations; report the handling results to the Ministry of Education and Training in writing before April 30.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that Hanoi currently has nearly 2,900 schools, about 2.3 million students and 130,000 teachers. Organizing extra teaching and learning is a complicated issue with great demand. If there are no strict and appropriate management measures, the most disadvantaged subjects will be the students.
