On August 26, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) responded to errors and incidents in university and college admissions in 2025.

Upgrade the system, increase the number of virtual filters

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025, the total number of candidates registered for the exam will reach 852,000 with 7.6 million wishes for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 400 universities and colleges nationwide.

The total number of actual admission wishes that must be considered on the system is up to over 50 million (each industry wish considered according to each method and admission combination is considered as one wish on the system), an increase of about 2 times compared to 2024.

In the 2025 admission season, the total number of actual admission requests that must be considered on the system will be over 50 million.

To meet the higher demands of 2025, the general enrollment support software system (including the virtual selection and filtering system) has been upgraded. Although there was an initial overload, it was promptly resolved and completed processing, providing data to schools for timely announcement on August 22.

The Ministry of Education and Training also increased the time and number of virtual filtering times for schools to carefully review data and minimize errors. At the same time, after announcing the benchmark scores, schools will continue to need 2 to 3 days to review, correct errors and complete the list of successful candidates, notify candidates, and update the Ministry's system to serve candidates to confirm admission.

Thus, from August 22 to August 24, candidates who have been admitted to a school will be notified of their admission by that school and can be looked up on the information portal provided by the school. For the group of schools in the North that conduct the general admission exam, the announcement of the list of successful candidates will be undertaken by Hanoi University of Science and Technology as the host unit under the authorization of the schools in the group.

Candidates who do not receive notification of admission or because the school has not completed updating data, has not announced the list of admitted candidates or there are errors.

Actual number of errors decreased compared to 2024

From 8:00 a.m. on August 25, after most schools uploaded their admission list data, the Ministry of Education and Training reopened the general admission support system for candidates to confirm their enrollment.

The system is operating completely stably. By 12 noon on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully confirmed their enrollment (exceeding the total number of candidates admitted in the first batch of 2024).

With such a large amount of data, along with the diverse admission methods and conditions of universities and colleges, errors are inevitable, even at a very small rate. As in previous years, these errors are mainly due to errors in the admission input data (admission methods, conditions, admission criteria, evidence of candidates' priorities, foreign language certificates, etc.), some errors are due to manual operations of some schools during the admission process.

However, according to the Ministry, the actual number of errors has decreased significantly compared to 2024. The Ministry of Education and Training and universities and colleges have assigned staff to work on hotlines to receive feedback and questions from candidates and parents through many channels (via phone numbers and emails on the general admission support system) and coordinate to handle and resolve immediately for the legitimate interests of candidates.

According to the admission regulations, the resolution of errors is the responsibility of the schools. If necessary, the Ministry will support, guide and direct other universities to coordinate in handling. After listening to feedback on major errors of some higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training has directed and guided promptly. Up to now, most of the errors have been resolved in accordance with regulations.

The university and college admissions for 2025 up to now have been on schedule, as required, ensuring the rights of candidates; the general admission system for the year has been operating stably; cases where information has not been accessed in the past few days are due to schools not having completed reviewing and completing data; cases with errors have all been resolved promptly, in accordance with regulations.

"All qualified candidates will definitely be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time," the Ministry of Education and Training affirmed, adding that it will continue to listen to, study, and absorb feedback to adjust admission regulations and plans and direct universities and colleges to perform better in the coming years.
