Schools must ensure the rights of candidates.
Reflecting to Tien Phong, Mr. NXB (Hanoi) said that his son had enough points to pass the first choice to enter the University of Economics (Hanoi National University), but on the admission confirmation system of the Ministry of Education and Training, he passed the fourth choice.
Mr. NXB has reported to the school and received a response, candidates can complete the admission procedures normally, the school will send a document to the Ministry of Education and Training. However, Mr. B is still worried, not being able to confirm admission at the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal, will the major be changed later?
This year, the number of candidates stuck between passing and failing is not rare, putting parents and candidates in a situation that is both funny and sad.
However, the errors and problems are being addressed and resolved by higher education institutions. Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training and related schools to create conditions for candidates to continue to be considered for admission when cases are discovered that do not meet the standard score but are on the admission list and vice versa.
The school has worked with the leadership representatives and admissions departments of each university and has initially received very positive cooperation. Many universities have agreed to accept candidates and allow admission.
After the training institutions announced the successful candidates, some errors in the admission results were discovered. According to the review results of the schools, the errors were mainly due to incorrect input data and incorrect establishment of input conditions in the admission process, while the system and algorithms were operating normally.
In 2025, the total number of candidates registering for admission and the number of admission wishes will be higher, so the time for schools to carefully review data and organize admissions will be longer.
According to the admission regulations, the responsibility of resolving errors lies with the schools. However, according to records, the Ministry of Education and Training receives about 20-30 feedbacks and recommendations from candidates and their families via the hotline every day, mainly recommendations on regional and target priority or adjusting the order of preferences...
Overcoming human error
The initial assessment of the above data discrepancy comes from human errors in the process of data entry and review and checking, not from the systems and software of the Ministry of Education and Training or the school. In previous years, the errors were partly overcome when the university organized early admissions. This year, all admission methods are in one round, leading to a huge data source.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the exam will reach 852,000 with 7.6 million wishes for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 400 universities and colleges. The admission regulations allow candidates to register for multiple wishes and do not need to choose a method or combination of admissions; the admission software system will automatically select the method or combination of admissions that is most beneficial for the candidates. Therefore, the total number of actual wishes that must be considered on the system will reach over 50 million, about 2 times higher than in 2024.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that the cases of not being able to access information in the past few days were due to the fact that schools had not completed reviewing and completing data; cases with errors were resolved promptly, in accordance with regulations; all candidates who meet the admission requirements will certainly be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time.
The Ministry of Education and Training will continue to listen, study and absorb feedback to have directions to adjust admission regulations, admission plans and direct universities and colleges to perform better in the coming years.
This year, the total number of actual admission wishes that must be considered on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training is up to over 50 million (each industry wish considered according to each method and admission combination is considered as one wish on the system), an increase of about 2 times compared to 2024.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the basic problem this year is due to the eligibility conditions for admission to a major of each school. The schools themselves propose many methods and many admission combinations, so the number of conditions increases rapidly and is not strict.
Incorrect input data will lead to errors. Mr. Dien hopes that next year, it is necessary to reduce the number of combinations, admission methods and also control the number of wishes/candidates.
Just one inaccurate admission data will distort the results of not only a university but also the entire system. For example, this year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) determined to enroll the D66 group but forgot to add a component subject.
In previous years, the D66 group included Literature, Civics and English. But according to the 2018 education program, this group includes: Literature, Economics and Law Education, and English.
The school did not add the subject of Economic Education and Law to the D66 group, so when filtering, the system only considered candidates who registered to take the exam according to the 2006 education program (with the subject of Civic Education), candidates who took the exam according to the 2018 program were eliminated. After the standard scores were announced, dozens of candidates expressed their opinions, the school had to send a document asking for the opinion of the Ministry of Education and Training and consider admission for these candidates.
