In Ho Chi Minh City, some schools have planned university admission methods for 2026, such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry will conduct comprehensive admissions, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking will maintain the same admission methods as in 2025.

Candidates admitted to Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City complete admission procedures
Similarly, in 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to continue using 5 admission methods (PT) as in 2025, including: Admission based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam (PT1); considering high school study results of all 3 years of high school (PT2); considering the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2026 (PT3); considering the results of the specialized competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in 2026 combined with high school study results according to the subject combination corresponding to each major (PT4); direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (PT5).
Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that the school really wants to officially announce the 2026 enrollment information soon so that candidates can know and plan for their admission registration to the school, but they have to wait for the Ministry of Education and Training to announce the enrollment regulations.
Meanwhile, most other universities have not yet announced enrollment information for 2026 (although it is expected). A representative of the enrollment department of a university in Ho Chi Minh City said that they are still waiting for the enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training because this is the basis for universities to build their projects. "If the school announces that it has a method of considering transcripts but later the ministry's regulations do not allow considering transcripts, the school must adjust the enrollment information - this is not good for the school or the candidates" - this person said.
On September 18, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training held a conference on university education in 2025 to review the results of the past year and determine tasks for the coming year. At this conference, the Ministry of Education and Training distributed a survey on university admissions from 2026 to delegates of more than 200 universities. In particular, regarding admission based on high school transcripts, the Ministry of Education and Training proposed two options: to abolish or continue to use them. At this time, the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet decided whether schools will be allowed to consider transcripts or not.
