Quynh Son community tourism village in Bac Son commune, Lang Son province, is located about 160km from Hanoi capital. The village currently has nearly 450 stilt houses that are nearly a hundred years old. In early October, Quynh Son village was honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as the Best Tourist Village in 2025.

The village has about 1,800 people who are long-time residents of the Tay ethnic group. In addition, the Nung and Dao ethnic groups also live in traditional stilt houses.

The Tay people’s stilt houses in Quynh Son are built of precious wood and have yin-yang tiled roofs. Most of the stilt houses face south because the locals believe this is a good direction, as the proverb says, “Marry a gentle wife and build a house facing south.”

Located in the middle of Bac Son valley at an altitude of over 600m, Quynh Son village is surrounded by limestone mountains. Especially every rice harvest season in July or October, when the rice valley turns golden, the village becomes an unmissable destination for tourists and photographers.

The winding Thuong River provides irrigation water and daily life for the people of Quynh Son village.

A poetic corner of the countryside attracts tourists from afar.

The stilt houses are located close together, neatly nestled at the foot of the mountain, facing the fields. Since 2010, Quynh Son village has been converted into a community tourism village, people not only focus on farming as before but also have a sense of preserving the landscape, environmental sanitation and starting services such as homestay, providing accommodation for tourists.

To get a panoramic view of Bac Son valley, visitors can climb Na Lay mountain which is nearly 700m high. This is an ideal location for photographers to come every year to hunt for moments of sunrise, sea of clouds and golden season.

Coming to Quynh Son community cultural tourism village, visitors can learn about the unique cultural features of the Tay people such as then singing melodies, playing Tinh lute, and experience many traditional dishes such as roast pig, Tay banh chung, wormwood leaf cake, and khau nhuc...

During these peaceful autumn days, visitors to Quynh Son village can walk or cycle around the village during the day, admire the ripe rice carpets spread everywhere, or try their hand at being a farmer and harvesting rice. In the evening, they can organize a campfire, watch the stars, and listen to traditional Then singing.
