Recall the entire batch of Coix seeds.

On October 30th, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health notified relevant units about the recall of Coix seeds that did not meet quality standards, constituting a level 1 quality violation.

The Inspection and Legal Affairs Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health inspected medicinal herbs at a private traditional medicine clinic.

Accordingly, the Department of Traditional Medicine Management has ordered the mandatory recall of the entire batch of Coix seeds sold by the Traditional Medicine Clinic (Medical Practitioner Luong Manh Tuan), located in Cho village, Xuan Van commune, Tuyen Quang province. This batch of medicinal herbs is of unknown origin and does not meet the quality standards for both "descriptive" and "qualitative" indicators according to the Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia V, constituting a level 1 quality violation.

The Department of Health requests that businesses dealing in medicinal herbs and medical examination and treatment facilities urgently inspect and review the batch of medicinal herbs that violated quality standards at level 1 mentioned above; immediately cease the business, trading, and use of the violating batch of medicinal herbs; isolate any remaining medicinal herbs at the facility, contact and receive the returned products from the supplier; recall and handle the violating batch of medicinal herbs according to regulations, and report the results to the Department of Health.

The Lam Dong Provincial Center for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Testing is strengthening its efforts to monitor the quality of medicinal herbs and collect samples for testing in the area, especially reviewing the aforementioned medicinal herbs.

The Culture and Social Affairs Departments of wards, communes, and special zones in the province, in coordination with relevant agencies, will strengthen inspection of medicinal herb businesses and traditional medicine clinics and hospitals within their jurisdiction; strictly handle violations within their authority or refer cases to relevant agencies for handling according to the law.
