The rice market in the Mekong Delta region on December 19th recorded a widespread sideways movement. According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province and the Vietnam Rice system, there were not many new transactions, reflecting the wait-and-see attitude of traders amidst limited remaining rice supply at the end of the season.

Prices of raw and finished rice remain stable.
At rice warehouses, the price of raw rice for export remains stable compared to the previous trading session. Specifically, IR 50404 rice fluctuates around 7,550 – 7,650 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice maintains a level of 8,150 – 8,300 VND/kg and Dai Thom 8 rice is commonly at 8,800 – 9,000 VND/kg.
For the finished rice segment, the IR 50404 variety is currently listed at around 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg. Other rice varieties such as Soc Thom, CL 555, OM 380, and OM 18 also only recorded minor fluctuations within a narrow range.
In the retail market, the prices of consumer rice varieties have not seen any new changes:
- Nang Nhen rice: 28,000 VND/kg (highest price on the market).
- Regular rice: 11,500 – 12,000 VND/kg.
- Fragrant rice (Jasmine, Hương Lài, Nàng Hoa): Prices remain stable thanks to moderate domestic consumer demand.
The fresh rice market has slowed down.
In key rice-producing areas such as An Giang , Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Vinh Long, the price of fresh rice has remained almost unchanged. The limited remaining rice supply among farmers has resulted in a rather subdued trading atmosphere in the fields.
| type of rice | Price (VND/kg) |
|---|---|
| OM 18 and Fragrance 8 | 6,400 – 6,600 |
| OM 5451 | 5,500 – 5,600 |
| IR 50404 | 5,300 – 5,400 |
Export rice prices remain stable.
On the world market, Vietnamese rice continues to maintain a stable trend. Importing partners are currently observing the progress of Vietnam's next harvest before making new purchasing decisions.
- 5% broken rice: 420 – 440 USD/ton.
- 100% broken rice: 314 – 318 USD/ton.
- Jasmine rice: $447 – $451 per ton.
According to analysts, the market is awaiting clearer signals from international import demand and supply developments as localities enter the peak harvest season for the upcoming crop.
