The domestic rice market remains stable.

As of December 17, 2025, the domestic rice market continued to maintain stability in many localities. Transactions were slow due to the transitional period between harvests, limited supply, and the fact that the new crop had not yet been fully harvested.

Rice prices in An Giang

In An Giang, the prices of fresh rice remained unchanged compared to the previous session. The stable prices reflect the limited remaining supply held by farmers.

Retail prices of rice and glutinous rice

In the retail market, prices of finished rice and glutinous rice have not fluctuated significantly. Purchasing power remains stable, although there is a growing demand for stockpiling in anticipation of the Lunar New Year.

  • Nang Nhen rice: approximately 28,000 VND/kg
  • Jasmine rice: approximately 22,000 VND/kg
  • Thai fragrant rice: 20,000 – 22,000 VND/kg
  • Regular rice: 13,000 – 14,000 VND/kg
  • Fresh IR 4625 glutinous rice: 7,300 – 7,500 VND/kg
  • IR 4625 glutinous rice (dried): 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg

The prices of by-products saw a slight increase. Specifically, the prices of OM 5451 broken rice and bran both increased by 100 VND/kg, reaching 7,500 – 7,600 VND/kg and 6,600 – 6,700 VND/kg respectively.

Export rice prices increased slightly.

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of Vietnamese rice continues to maintain a slight upward trend, which is an important factor in stabilizing the domestic market.

  • Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains: 435 – 460 USD/ton
  • Jasmine rice: 454 – 458 USD/ton
  • White rice with 5% broken grains: 362 – 366 USD/ton

In the short term, the rice market is expected to remain sluggish. The market is expected to improve as the new harvest begins and export activity becomes more vibrant.
