Rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces remained stable on December 16, 2025. Trading was slow due to limited remaining end-of-season supply and a lack of significant breakthroughs in export activity.

Trends in domestic rice prices
According to reports, the supply of rice in the Mekong Delta is quite limited because the old crop is nearing completion while the new crop has not yet entered its peak harvesting stage. This helps keep rice prices stable and avoids downward pressure. However, buying and selling transactions are quite cautious.

Below are the reference prices for some types of fresh rice in An Giang province and surrounding areas, in VND/kg:

Export markets face challenges.
On the world market, Vietnam's export rice prices remained stable in the first half of December 2025. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the selling prices of some major rice varieties are as follows (unit: USD/ton):
- Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains: 435 – 460 USD/ton
- Jasmine rice: 454 – 458 USD/ton
- White rice with 5% broken grains: 362 – 366 USD/ton
Compared to its competitors, Thai rice prices tend to rise sharply due to concerns about supply disruptions caused by flooding. Meanwhile, the prices of Indian and Pakistani rice have only fluctuated slightly.
Vietnam's rice exports continue to face significant pressure from import control policies in the Philippines, its largest consumer market. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has revised its forecast for Vietnam's rice exports in 2025 down to approximately 8 million tons, a 2.4% decrease from the previous year, primarily due to a decline in sales to this market.
Trend forecasting
In the short term, domestic rice prices are forecast to remain stable. The market is unlikely to experience significant fluctuations unless there are unusual weather events or sudden changes in export demand. The market is expected to become more active again when the new harvest begins and major importing markets show clearer signs of recovery.
