Indonesia focuses its efforts on flood relief and maintaining food security.

On December 16, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture delivered two shipments of emergency aid to areas severely affected by floods and landslides on Sumatra Island. The natural disaster impacted approximately 70,000 hectares of rice fields, but a plan to restore production is scheduled to begin in January next year.

Earlier, at a cabinet meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman affirmed that national food reserves and the distribution system remain secure. According to him, Indonesia has prepared rice reserves three times the required amount, equivalent to 120,000 tons, sufficient to meet demand in any situation.

In addition to rice, the government, in coordination with partners, distributed cooking oil and food, with the total value of aid exceeding 1 trillion Rupiah, approximately 60 million USD. Minister Sulaiman also stated that the farmers' trade conditions index reached 124.36, significantly higher than the target of 110, while the income of rice farmers reached approximately 120 trillion Rupiah.

National rice production increased by 4.17 million tons, bringing reserves to a record 3.7 million tons, laying the groundwork for Indonesia to declare food self-sufficiency from January 1st. In response to natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, the government mobilized large-scale resources and implemented four key solutions, ranging from building 2,000 homes and securing budgets and financial support for local areas to deploying tens of thousands of personnel, machinery, and relief vehicles.

These efforts demonstrate Indonesia's determination to respond to natural disasters and protect people's livelihoods.
